Re: Tank Ring mounted tank bag with Keyless fuel Cap

Hi kiki The position the bag is mounted in the photo does not impede the steering lock at all. I positioned it so the handle bars just miss the bag on either lock. I was fortunate that I had a dealer near by who stocked the complete range and let me drop each bag on the tank to compare, I did consid...

Re: Tank Ring mounted tank bag with Keyless fuel Cap

Hi Kiki
Sorry can't help with the keyless issue but I have the sw motech daypack. I am pleased with it and the locking system, handy to store cameras and the things you want without having to get off bike to go into panniers. See picture.

Re: Riding with luggage & pillion

Try telling the wife it's too much to spend for her comfort and extra security on the pillion!  :)
I don't mind as you can take them off and transfer them to another RT if you change bikes in the future.

Re: Riding with luggage & pillion

Fitted Illium rear footboards for Wife, she loves them. Also helps to stop her moving forward when braking as she can put her weight onto the balls of her feet. They are also slightly lower than original footrests. http://www.iliumworks.com/BMW_Motorcycle_Accessories.cfm?pn=11-700&pID=69 The onl...

Re: Are wetheads heavier on tires than oil cooled?

It will be interesting to see how the new Metzeler Roadtec 01, released this month, wears. It looks to have a very similar tread pattern as the PR4's and are dual compound. I too had Conti's on from new and didn't like them so changed them for PR4's and after  4500 miles they both have 3mm ...

Re: European breakdown cover

The problem I have found over the years both personally and other motorcycling friends is, with RAC and other such companies they are very much focused on cars. The classic being when you say your motorcycle has broken down, one of the questions they ask "is it diesel or petrol" I remember...

Re: Swiss passes 2016

Tend to find the lesser known places and roads always a winner, less traffic, more rustic and less tourists.

Re: Swiss passes 2016

Hi Jimbeem  Susten,Furka,Grimsel all recommend don't forget to stop on the Furka to walk to the Glazier. However check out the lesser known Nufenen close by and the Lukmanier,San Bernardino and Splugen on the Italian border to the east. If you are coming into Switzerland from France try com...

Re: Route transfer to 660

Until last year i stuck with Mapsource mainly because when you use something for a while you  feel comfortable with it. The thing is that all up to date Garmin Sat Nav's use the newer GPX format for route data, whereas Mapsource by default writes routes in the older .gdb format. When i got ...

Re: YET MORE RUMOURS ABOUT FRENCH BIKE LAWS.

I'm with you STeinar. Fortunately we toured all of France in the 90s. Then France seemed to get very expensive and all the ridiculous laws came along. One problem is the Fench don't have a bike industry or indeed have ever had, so in general they have little interest in motorcycling. Go to Germany f...

Avant front mudguard extension, Wunderlich front crash bars, Nav V, Wunderlich front engine protection plate, BMW weather protection kit to fill in the gaps around the footrests and Autocom if you haven't got the BMW audio system.

Re: RTWC rear brake pad wear

The article below is taken from Cycle World long term test which has a link on today's forum. Thanks to fmantek. [size=12px]"The second demerit was caused by the rear brake pads, which had to be replaced at just 6,085 miles, though I accept the blame for some of that rapid wear. When aggressive...

Re: RTWC rear brake pad wear

Only proportionately going steeply downhill at speed into a wet hairpin I would prefer to use more back brake. I quote from the bikes handbook page 93 Descending mountain passes "use both front and rear brakes"

Re: RTWC rear brake pad wear

The only day I was using the rear to any degree was crossing the alps from Austria to Slovenia, it was a wet day and I was using it along with the front to brake into downhill hairpins. I was a IAM senior observer for 10 years so I use the brakes as they should be used and hardly at all under normal...
