Re: Best puncture repair

Had my first puncture last year in Scotland. Used the sticky string repair kit. Very easy using the supplied tools, didn't have to use the Co2 cannisters as somebody had a portable compressor. Lasted a 1000 miles until I got home and changed the tyre. The kit must have been 10 years old but the stri...

Re: bike spec help

Go to the local BMW dealer with your VIN and they should be able to access all the information about the bike, inc service history if main dealer serviced. I recently changed to Cotswold Motorrad from North Oxford. The chap on the service desk asked me to bring in my service history because there's...

Re: Travel insurance

From the nationwide policy document. Doesn't mention hire bikes. 'Included Activities You are covered to do the activities below on your trip. Motorcycling (up to 125cc, crash helmet must be worn, and you must have a valid UK licence to ride the vehicle, no cover under Personal Liability)' I'll ring...

Thanks, I'll go back and read it properly.

Travel insurance

I know this has been covered countless times before but as things change thought worth asking. Previously used the travel health insurance that came with my Nationwide account but looking through the small print it seems that they've gone down the 'only cover up 125cc ' route. Which companies are pe...

Same mileage but different time. Is that real time? As in allowing for current traffic conditions.

Route for the Dumfries trip. Still tweaking it so not the final draft but just to have a look at. If any of the basecamp gurus see any glaring errors let me know. ayrshire.gpx Created on MyRoute App and Ive opened it on basecamp (seems Ok as long as fastest route is the default setting). MikeS Basecamp is a pain in the arse till you figure it out I much prefer Myroute App for planning routes now Given up on basecamp, plotted a route on MyRoute App. Here's the second draft. Still fine tuning, needs coffee and lunch stops. Taken some of the roads from a Scottish motorcycling site whi...

This place gets reasonable reviews:

However, it's a 30 minute walk from the PI. Bit of a pain after a day in the saddle.
