Re: Getting her on

My wife does exactly the same as Mikes. the only minor difference is that i ask her to keep the torso over the centre of the bike so she does not have left foot on footrest and weight all on left side. There is of course the threat that if she marks the panniers that I will divorce her, until she re...

Re: Riding position advice

Interesting comments about riding positions and think i will enter into the training mode of being consciously competent for a while and see if any of this helps me. As a footnote though I used to be in the services and Ran the Field gun crew a couple of times (youtube it)  (30 years ago)an...

Re: R1200 RT Drive line failures

Well lets think. There is the undercarriage bearings (lots of them) engine bearings (they spin very fast ) and numerous others after allI left the Ark Royal in 78. But you get the drift.  Some of you guys seem to back yourselves in a bit of a corner though as lets be honest all bikes have t...

Re: R1200 RT Drive line failures

I,m going to take sides here.  I,m right in the middle of the 2 sides. before I bought my RT i spoke to 2 coppers at a petrol station about the drive failures and both laughed and said yeh it doesn't matter we get them fixed for free. I also phoned my local Barnstormer and they workshop adv...

Re: R1200 RT Drive line failures

It had only done 22k and serviced up to 16k.  The previous owner had done it after that.  It would appear to be reasonably common but as I said it is still a great bike.  You do have to question though if it is made of swiss cheese if after 22k it fails. I used to service ...

Re: R1200 RT Drive line failures

My 2008 RT suffered f/drive failure and any dealer will quietly agree.  I still love my 2011 RT for its foibles but I don't believe it has,nt got weakness,s

Re: Valve adjustment - who hasn't done it?

Did mine on my old 2008 model and it,s a piece of cake.  It did feel a bit heath robinson when you think of the thousandth of an inch req but understanding that over the last few turns of the cam that you have almost zero movement means it is not as  heath robinson as it seems.&...
