Re: She passed!
Thank you for explaining. Pretty thorough testing. Here I think it is a combination of those in one test, though you must pass a written and a riding test. Here you must do a Motorcycle Safety Course which covers both of those and once you complete it you have your lice...

Re: 2017 or 2018 or vvt R????
When you see the GS/GSA go to VVT and a 1250 CC motor you will know the RT will have it the next year. It should be something very special then. With the 17 improvements of new shaft, bearings, shifting forks, and anti shudder, then the TFT screen, the bump to 1250 and VVT the G...

Re: She passed!
So for us on the wrong side of the pond what do the Mod1 and Mod2 mean? I assume it is a motorcycle endorsement but does the Mod2 allow a bigger bike or something of that nature? Congratulations to your wife for sure. Patricia rode a 650 thumper for 28,000 miles then feel in love with a 2...

Re: 2016 Rt - Givi V56 Maxia 4 Top Box Installed
To me this looks so much better than a ANY BMW case and with the AdMore run/turn/brake lights in it is very nice. Oh and color matched from Shad that is just too close to worry about.

Re: Low MPG
I always am amazed at others MPG. I am in the USA and I get about 43 MPG as a average. I may do a bit better on a 55 MPH cruise but not much. On our PA mountain/valley roads moving pretty good I get 40. But that is a lot of 3rd gear and heavy acceleration out ...

Re: Nice simple lock
Nicest and cleanest solution I have seen to date.
However if a thief wants it a screwdriver will pry the top plastic up and the GPS will pop right out. BMW needs to come up with a better solution or integration so it can not be removed by simply prying up on a piece of plastic.

Re: Tools for valve timing an valve clearance
Here is so information on Cam Timing and valve measurements. I have personally done these bikes and know this information to be correct and as accurate as possible. Left side camshafts - minimal adjustment. Really a small bit out but adjusted into spec. Right side camshafts - no adjustment...

Yes. Casbar wrote: So they have stuck velcro on as well 8)
Some bikes have it and others not. You can see from the thread guys were saying that they did not have them, and my dealer must have added it. But it is on our bikes and I think as a backup for broken tabs.

Re: Cam Timing and Valve check
Well I got to check a 14 RT with 5000 miles on it today. Both sides in time perfect. Cam sensor dead on. Complaint on the bike is needs 2nd attempt to start, surging, and perceived lack of power. I felt I could help with the 2nd start, but cam position sensor was dead on. Since it has neve...

I have been told the plastic linkage is the rear level sensor. Need to find the front one and do it also.

Shift Linkage Lube
Ok wanted to do this for awhile now so got it done today. If you had a LT the clips for releasing the linkage is the same. If you never touched one of these look at it carefully before you try. They look like this: https://s3.amazonaws.com/lafsbmw/shift+lube/clips.jpg https://s3....

Re: Exhaust Pipe Flap Valve Thingy
Yes others on other forums have said the motor still works but indeed the flap is seized. Since we remove our rear wheel every 7-10,000 miles I will spend the fifteen mins, and just clean it each time as I have done here. Must say the first pic of it "dirty" is at 15K and it is a...

Re: Exhaust Pipe Flap Valve Thingy
Now I will say I am a DarkSider and run a CT however with the season getting close I wanted to go back to a PR3 on my stock rim. So to get a handle on this exhaust flap I dug into it a bit today while changing my wheels out. I used these item to clean it. The old jean material I triple fol...
