Re: Done a major upgrade of the operating system hosting this website this morning

First of all Steinar a big thank you for all your work on the site. I did notice that on Chrome it froze a couple of times so I changed browser to MS Edge and no problems, may not be the site though, strange things happen .

Re: Windscreen

I do find my new RT more windy than my 1600 GTL and am tempted by a bigger screen whilst being mindful of RTman's comments about fuel consumption with bigger screens on another post. I do remember on a previous K1200GT, a very fast bike,  was more stable at very high speeds with screen full...

Re: Which bluetooth?

Not sure there's a right and a wrong with Bluetooth vs Autocom. I've not yet fitted my Autocom to the new RT LE but I'm persevering with My new Scala Packtalk, yesterday I went for a ride with a mate who had anther make of Bluetooth comms, we paired and had a good duplex connection and the quality w...

Re: Alternative satnav

I had the Nav4 then upgraded to the Nav5, the processor is way faster and the graphics are a big improvement, it is properly waterproof and integrated with the bike, routes can be planned on a PC/Mac and then emailed to all your fellow travellers, it is a complete solution. I remember the days when ...

Re: Turn Indicators auto cancel?

Back in the late '70s BMW fitted an audible beeper, which was molto embarrassing , about as loud as the current OEM horn!

Re: Bluetooth audio sounds awful

On the subject of Bluetooth, I mentioned elsewhere that I have bought a dual pack of Scala Pack talk, does anyone know should I expect to talk and hear between the two without any action like a voice command or button press before the conversation, between rider and passenger. At the moment I'm gett...

Re: Turn Indicators auto cancel?

Don't think it applies to the RT but on the 1600 they could have linked the self cancelling to the headlight gyro so that when it sensed a corner it could self cancel. But I'm guessing its quite difficult to achieve the ideal for all circumstances.

Re: Seeking advise on new R1200RTLC: Nav V mount and Whelen light questions

I was wondering whether a central locking module/catch, like on the rear panniers, could be fashioned to do the job of releasing the Nav 5 unit. If ever I dismantle mine sufficiently I may look into that. It would be nice to at least be able to go and pay for fuel or whatever without having to prote...

I use an Airhawk as well, I sit on the standard seat before lunch the change to the Airhawk after, it's like a new bum, I imagine.

Re: BT intercom

To answer your second question 1st, I ride with a group of 9 others all of whom have autocom, some of them are too mean to upgrade, I suppose I'm doing the research. The PMR BT dongle enables the Scala to transmit to the dongle and a BT PTT opens up the PMR channel. However I have had to return the ...

Re: Alloy Wheel Cleaning

I got some stuff called Bilberry juice for the car which had some really stubborn dried up residue on the alloy wheels, goes on clear then after a few minutes turns purple, after a rinse I was truly impressed, when dry the wheels were clean and had a good shine. It's non toxic and really great for t...

Re: Possible Front daytime LEDs for R1200RT

I wouldn't be happy with a light flash as well as the horn, that is a mixed message in the UK as light flash is often, albeit incorrectly, given as an 'after you' signal.

Re: she has arrived

As for the GPS mount, I think the 1600 has a much better design in that it is mounted from above and secured behind it's shroud and the release is also safer as it offers a degree of security behind the screen, only a degree though, as removal of the screen facilitates the removal of the GPS should ...

Re: she has arrived

Lucky man, mine is built but stuck in Germany awaiting shipment, as it has been for the last 10 days. Luckily those nice chaps at Bahnstormer have lent me one to keep me happy and quiet. I've discovered that when you fit the Nav 5 it doesn't go in with a nice click, you have to try to dislodge it to...

Welcome indeed, I'm sure you will enjoy your new bike, I'm guessing that it will the twin cam engine, very nice I had that on my 2010 GS.
