It depends how you treat it.

I have a 2012. My bike doesn't get ridden as often as I would like. I charge the battery if it's been left in the garage for more than three weeks.

The battery then fails about every 3 years.

Why not attend the annual meeting in France, instead of arranging an alternative?

There's plenty of options available - day trip, short trip, long trip.

I recently fitted one of these to my Deauville, On full power, it gets SO hot, I had to turn it down. It wires straight to the battery and an ignition live (to stop you leaving it on by mistake).
