Re: R1200RT-P blood bike gear box problems
Here is part of a BMW Global Press release concerning technical modifications to 2017 water-cooled boxer models: Technical changes to the liquid-cooled boxer models. When the new model year starts in August 2016, the engines of the liquid- cooled boxer models will be subject to supplementary technic...

Re: R1200RT-P blood bike gear box problems
Just doesn't make sense that 4 out of 5 bikes all at the same place and presumably used by the same riders suffer identical gearbox problems. Wonder how long it will be until the replacement components give up. All 4 bikes are duty bikes and used by duty riders which means about 14 differ...

Re: R1200RT-P blood bike gear box problems
Our bikes started with a few clutch replacements but then gearboxes were replaced.

Re: R1200RT-P blood bike gear box problems
Just checked the symptoms on the RT-P gearbox failures. With all the failures the symptom was the riders could not get the bikes into neutral.

R1200RT-P blood bike gear box problems
Thought you might want to know about serious gearbox issues on the watercooled RTs. I'm a blood bike rider and my charity has 5 new watercooled RT-P blood bikes, 2015 and 2016 models. Out of the 5 bikes, 4 bikes have had new gearboxes and clutches, completed under BMW warrantee. Granted our bikes do...

Re: Keeping visors clean inside and out
I used to only use muck-off visor cleaner with a micro fibre cloth but now, since I do a lot of miles on the bike (12k a year), I use a drop of washing up liquid and cold water to clean the outside of the visor and just plain water to clean the inside face and pinlok when it's still fitted. I wipe t...

Re: Pannier 'City lids' for R1200RT LC
I leave the panniers on my bike all the time and filter regularly without any problems. The slim panniers would be nice and it's a shame BMW don't make a slim top opening city pannier which mounts using the same points as the normal panniers. I was working in London last week and had no issues filte...

Re: Which intercom.... bike to bike....
I normally do a shift from Friday 19:00 to Monday 07:00. We're on duty all the time but only ride for 4 hours then must take a break and are normally limited to 12hrs on the bike over 24hrs. I work into Bath, Somerset and we typically get 20 to 25 jobs in a shift

Re: Which intercom.... bike to bike....
You can use Autocom with lots of bikes (if you have them [emoji16]). I've got an instructors unit which fits in my jacket pocket and has built in Bluetooth to connect to various satnavs and your phone and has rechargeable batteries. I use it when I'm on blood bike duty so that I can talk to the coor...

Hideout Hi-Pro Textile Suit
Has anyone bought the Hideout leathers Hi-Pro textile suit and used it for some time? On paper it looks really good and is full CE rated. It's a log of money but could replace my ageing Rukka ArmaS suit. Any feedback gratefully received :-))

Rukka ArmaS
Been speaking to Tranam today, the UK importer of Rukka gear and they confirmed that Rukka will no longer make the ArmaS suit for 2017 onwards and there is no longer a fully CE rated suit which conforms to the PPE requirement for professional riders. I know the ArmaS is not perfect but it's the only...

Re: Updated 2017 K1600GT
No it wasn't. I'm amused that German bikes have KPH only displayed, whereas UK bikes have MPH/KPH displayed on the analogue speedo. Do US models have MPH/KPH. Do Canadian models only have KPH. It just seems to me that analogue speedos are out of date and hard to read, especially if you cross border...

Re: Updated 2017 K1600GT
It does have an electric reverse gear which uses the starter motor in combination with pressing a button on the left hand bar. Will definitely test ride one :-))

Updated 2017 K1600GT
Have you seen the updated 2017 model K1600GT. Restyling looks good and equipment now matches the current R1200RT, with gear shift pro, active suspension and a few other goodies but it's a shame the bike wasn't put on a serious diet. Still 319kg.. Think I'll stick with my RT http://uploads.tapatalk-c...

Re: Rear Rack Extender for 2015 R1200RT LC ??
Shame, we'll be saying good bye to these over the next two years. Shame BMW have been slow to sort major electrical problems and develop a Home Office type approved RT blood bike
