Re: A new (used) RT owner
This photo pretty much convinced me to get a rear (pannier) crash bars. The good news is that there are many to choose from! Oh btw, here's my trade in for the RT. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to keep my other sport bikes. When I was at the dealer trading in, a bit of deja vu--the trade reminded ...

Re: A new (used) RT owner
Wel...my beauty came with some scars...on the valve covers. I'll leave it as is for a bit while I get used to the bike. I haven't tipped over in two decades (other than two major crashes) but who knows, it might happen. Yes....Once I replace the covers, I'll be getting a plastic or other types. How ...

A new (used) RT owner
Just bought my first touring bike after many decades of sport bikes. My new (used) beauty is a 2011 RT Polar Metallic with low suspension. Came with a color matched top case. With radio, but no GPS. The best part was that it has less than 6000 miles....with all service history by the dealer. While m...

Re: Prospective '12 RT owner
No. There's no wiring in the canbus for heated seats and the frame is slightly different. And you still end up with no ESA and something that grounds on any spirited corner. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk What drags first during cornering once the feeler pegs are removed? (Can they be r...

Re: Prospective '12 RT owner
Just tried out a '11 LOW. Not a lot of difference vs standard chassis with low seats, IMO. '14 with low seats felt good. Both on my tippy toes. (But that's typical for me)One concern, though. The '11 hesitated under hard throttle. Warning β οΈ sign comes up and turns the heated grips on. (The dealer ...

Re: Prospective '12 RT owner
My 2007 RT SE had issues with rear wheel bearing and ring antenna, 2010 RT SE had switch gear issues. None of these faults were uncommon, but should be clear on a well used, well maintained bike. My 2013 RT SE (essentially the same bike as the 2010 model) was faultless and covered a lot of miles fa...

thanks!Dogbreath wrote: One issue on the 10-13 is the iffy switchgear on the left side bar. Headlight main beam/flash switch, cruise etc. These are weak and can cause problems. Check thoroughly before buying as they're a lot of dosh to replace.

Re: Prospective '12 RT owner
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
So, with this (previous, 10-13) generation of RTs there are no common problems? Hard to believe, but I have never owned a German bike before. Those Bavarian engineers are mighty sharp! (From experience)

Prospective '12 RT owner
Hello there. A neophyte here. I'm a long time rider looking to add a long-distance bike to my stable, which consists of Diavel, Brutale and (old) 900SS. After several different test rides, I think I'm converging on a previous-generation R1200RT. Why previous generation? it's because I have short 29&...
