Re: Just bought a Sargent seat but bits missing ?
Just had a look at mine, the two rubber things are used no matter what position the seat is in, low or hight. The diameter is 25mm. Guess you know the thread size.

Re: 2014 versus 2016
There was an issue with 2014 and early 2015 bikes where the alternator and Stator packed up and the battery stopped charging. Very expensive to fix, engine out. One of our 2014 bikes had this issue and it cost us north of £2000 to fix at mates rates. It would put me off the early water cooled bikes.

Re: First sat nav on 2020 RT
Garmin have tried a couple of times to solve the issues with the Nav VI. The latest fix (updated Nav VI) up to yesterday hasn't yet been shipped. We have a Nav VI that is less than 6 months old that is ghosting and Garmin gave an estimate of 8 weeks to replace. So not sure if you can buy the latest ...

Re: schuberth c3 pro Water leakage.
Yes, got 2 Neotec 2s, had them now probably 4 years, not an issue at all. I use one helmet for blood biking only, so that has had a lot more use than my other one, but I am very happy with them.

Re: RT 1200LC Motor - Life Span
We have a late 2014 with 65k. But we had to have the alternator and stator replaced, which cost us £2k plus at mates rates. Later bikes don't have the alternator and stator issue, but not sure if 2015 bikes had the issue. Taking the engine out and doing the job was difficult because all the fixings ...

Re: Blind spot mirrors
I had a couple of little round ones on my 1200RT. Decided a waste of time, I had to concentrate at looking into them and it was a lot easier to just turn my head

Re: schuberth c3 pro Water leakage.
Yep, had a C3 Pro for around 5 years, always got sprayed in the face when it rained hard, took it back several times to the supplying dealer, who said there was nothing wrong. Got rid of it for a Shoei Neotec 2

Re: Remap for an R1250RT - any experience??
@Dr T, let me give you a bit of advice. Everything I have posted is freely available on UKGSER, I followed this thoroughly when it all blew up. Including all the reports from others who had visited said company. I was looking into having my bike mapped, I contacted said company and discussed with th...

Re: Remap for an R1250RT - any experience??
The trouble is, all your assumptions are just assumptions. Do some research around Hilltop and the views on UKGSER and other forums, about their practices. They told everyone that their map was hidden and they were not adjusting the main map at all. Many took their bikes to Hilltop but had them dyno...

Re: Remap for an R1250RT - any experience??
I think hilltop have done lots of different bikes with success. It just seems to be the LC bikes people have had issues with. I would think they wouldn’t still be in business if all their mapping was bull.

Re: Remap for an R1250RT - any experience??
There is another thread on UKGSER at the moment, some chap in the States had his bike mapped, then had a problem and took it to BMW for a warranty look and they could tell the ECU had been messed with, so they voided his warranty. But as regards Hilltop, their mapping is hidden and they claim BMW ca...

Re: driveshaft failure?
The rubber plug valve thingy, just pushes in, there is no thread. A good tip is to put a bit of glue on them to keep it in, as they fall out.

Re: Remap for an R1250RT - any experience??
Not sure if anything has improved, but loads of posts on UKGSER a couple of years back, where Hilltop had put their secret "hidden" maps on to 1200s and claimed BMW couldn't find the update. But as above, independent dynoed the bikes and it was all rubbish, nothing there, no improvement. B...

I must be past the ear changing days. I’m 5 years into my ultimate ears moulded ear plugs and they are still all day comfortable.
