Guzzi Mandello

Always had a soft spot for Moto Guzzi so I took a great interest when the Mandello was first announced. I even went along to our local Guzzi dealer to see the new bike "In The Flesh". Very pretty little thing, although not a Tourer. All the Magazine Road Test reports where pretty much the ...

Re: Tyre Pressure Settting / Ambient Temperature

What are the cold tyre pressures for your Varadero, will you be compensating for the ambient temperature and tyre warming up with use. I hope that this discussion is helping to answer the questions Our Gee has asked. Many thanks for all the answers, unfortunately David, it all seems a bit technical...

Tyre Pressure Settting / Ambient Temperature

Hello all, just been checking my Car tyre pressures and was surprised to find that all four tyres where well below the pressure I normally inflate them to. (about four to five PSI low) The tyres where cold, infact extremely cold. The ambient temperature was hovering around freezing. I inflated all t...

Re: Age Group " poll "

Not really a "Poll", more like a "Survey". Still an interesting idea.

Re: Tankbag vs kill switch

Ahh, I see now. Thank's for that Burridge. Mind you repositioning the Combination Switch does seem to be a rather extreme solution. I've just popped into my garage and mounted my BMW Tank Bag, moved the steering full lock to lock without any "clash". I suppose that's one the risks with un-...

Re: Tankbag vs kill switch

Well, I read the original post when it first appeared and to be truthful, didn't have the slightest idea just what our friend jtcompton is trying to tell us. After reading it again multiple times I'm still in the dark ! !. Please can anyone explain in simple terms what he is on about.

Re: Continental tyres

The Conti's are a great, if not that popular a tyre. I have had them on all of my RT's and found them to have plenty of grip, really good feel and ride comfort. Only down side for me was the lack of durability. My present Maxxis are uncannily similar in that they offer much the same feel, performanc...

Re: Maxxis Tyres

Your conversations with the other two "Bikes" doesn't seem to have given you the info that you require. As an experienced RT Rider I would have thought that my observations even at a relatively low mileage would have been of interest and perhaps generated some comment ?.

Re: Maxxis Tyres

We now have about 1500 miles clocked up on the Maxxis and absolutely nothing but praise to report. There "is" the first sign of the rear starting to develop a centre line "flat" area but nothing alarming and in line with my previous Conti's. Only one trip has resulted in some Wet...

Re: Fork oil ?

Not part of the scheduled maintenance procedure. The BMW Front Forks are not conventional in that the Oil contained therein is to" Lubricate" the Slider / Bushes only. There is no Hydraulic Damping requirements placed on the Oil so presumably is does not degrade like in conventional Motorc...

Re: Rear shock removal

Never had to remove a Rear ESA shock but I have removed the Front one on my 2013 Twin Cam and that was a pig due to the BMW Default practice of liberal "Thread Lock" on initial assembly. No doubt the Rear will have been be similarly assembled. What puzzles me is what part of the bottom mou...

Re: Petition Government to fix the roads

Why is it that folk always refer to the deplorable state of UK road as a "Pot Hole" problem. This only serves to detract from reality. The defects commonly referred to as Pot Holes are only a small part of the overall Road Construction and Maintenance regime which here in the UK is a joke....
