Nope, the phone can be on your person or in the cubby hole that has wireless charging as well as USB charging available.  The USB port is for charging only, no data.

From what I can see:

OK guys another update.  Took the bike out yesterday on a known route that I had done many times, I planned it in MyRouteApp and imported it into the BMW App,  I think I need to start another thread on Navigation with the pluses and minuses of a dedicated sat nav verses the BMW App...

What I mean about audio is that when you stop and switch off the bike the audio stops as well, when you start the bike again you have to push the button to restart the Audio.  I should also mention that it can take up to a minute for the BMW App to start, so if you are getting fuel for exam...

I don't think you need to restart it, I can't be sure cause it probably is phone dependant.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 and the App starts up after I stop and re-start.  It can take up to a minute for a map to display which is a pain as you might need to know your directions.

The secret it to push the volume buttons on you Galaxy phone to max volume, there are so many volume settings under settings it can be confusing.


But, push the physical volume button when connected to media.


Mute does show on the screen.
