Re: 2018 RT cockpit compartment
Ive retro fitted the right lockable compartment and find it really usefull for storage of things that stay on the bike.Leatherman, caffeine tablets, spare key batteries etc.Forgotten what it cost now but worth it.

Re: Possible recall
Ive sent 3 emails to customer service in the UK, without reply, asking why the RT, with exactly the same drive train is excluded from the campaign. Such poor service from a company Ive spent in excess of £100,000 with. They cant even be bothered to reply. Im lucky I can strip, inspect and lube my ow...

Re: Possible recall
There are splines at both ends. The bevel box end is more prone to corrosion as the ingressed water pools at that end.Once the corrosion gets into the splines it seizes the shaft onto the bevel box.Even if you can separate them, the splines have lost metal in the process and will be too loose a fit ...

Re: Possible recall
Theyre holding back on this. The seized shaft to bevel box splines is just as common on RTs as it is on GSs.
It happened on my last 2014 bike and Im monitoring it on my current 1250.
Not a safetey issue? Horseshit.
If you lose drive or break a UJ its a safety issue.

Damping
My RT1250 has been layed up for a bit while I put some miles on the KTM.... Rode it again today and the suspension felt odd.No warnings and changed between road and dynamic. At idle if I push the back down it just springs back all the way and tops out with a bang. No rebound damping.Compression feel...

Re: Poll of Tyre Options - R 1200/1250 RT
I voted for roadtec 01s because that's what I have fitted to my 1250 at the moment. It's not a recommendation though as they've been noisy throughout and at 5k miles the rear, whilst still legal, is worn unusually and looks distorted. Any recommendations for a quiet ride?

Re: BMW R1250RT STARTING PROBLEM
I sometimes have the same problem on my R1250, seems the starter turns the engine maybe a 1/4 turn and it stops, I know there is a centrifugal de-compressor on the exhaust valves to aid starting but this "Stopping" seems very much like compression lock to me, I don't view it as ...

Re: Clothing preferences
Just sold my armas because it was getting a bit tight.Must have shrunk in the rain [emoji1].Anyway, I've replaced it with the bmw street guard suit.More than happy with it.More comfortable than the rukka, warmer and more venting so should be cooler in summer.100% waterproof.
