rear brake pads 1200 2007

Just replaced my rear brake pads with EBC HH pad. I know BMW recommends standard sintered pads on the rear but i like the feedback from the HH pads. One question i have is why is one pad thicker than the other?. I've contacted EBC and they inform me i have the correct pads but the person couldn't ex...

I've been told you have to be a full time resident to register a vehicle to a private person. Must have proof of residency. This is needed for insurance as well. I was told this years ago so worth a check to see if it's changed since

Re: Hand guards on r1200rt

I was the same as you regards the muffs, hated them and felt really restricted(had guards on but they dont protect enough)So i have just bought a set of Barkbusters for my GSX1250 work bike https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwio9YHp5bv1AhWN6-0KHTO3CZ0YABANGgJkZw&sig=AOD64_1p-jwdYlKsP8...

Re: MCE insurance

Strange, if you go to their site you can still get a quote. I was with them but changed to Carol Nash at the start of the month. My home insurance company went bust a couple of years back. It was 8 months into the policy. Lost years no claim and it took over a year to get my remaining money back. So...

The functions is built-in. If you look through YT there are a couple of tutorials of how to stop the strobing. You will need to unsolder 2 contacts.

BMW main dealer service

This is my second 1200RT and only bought this one in December. Usual corrosion on wheels and peg plates. This doesn't bother me as i can sort this out when i get around to it. The bike has a fully stamped BMW service history. I've just done the main service myself. Found all moving parts along the d...

Re: Hand guards on r1200rt

Thanks for the input. I still think i will go down the handguard route. Never got on with handlebar Muffs. Tried them for a week when i was a London dispatch rider in the early 80's and hated them.

Hand guards on r1200rt

Hi Chaps. Heated grips are fine for my palm and inside fingers but the top of my hands are still cold from the wind. Has anyone fitted handguards?. Looks quite easy to fit as my 2007 has holes on both sides of the switchgear. Not looking for fancy Barkbuters but i think cheap Chinese eBay would do t...

Re: R1200rt rear carrier

Cheers for the replies. The steel plate does look like it is more meant for carrying bags rather than a top box.

Re: R1200rt rear carrier

Seems expensive for a bit of stainless plate. I've got a tourer tec steel plate that I've used on a few bikes, so will try that first. Forgot how the retirement pot goes down fast with the ownership of a BM

Re: New guy looking at getting first sport touring bike

Don't worry about the Telelever front suspension. The design is over 80 years old and proven. Unlike normal forks that compress under braking, transferring the weight of the bike to the front. This can cause a loss of braking traction to the front and rear tyres. With the Telelever, less weight is t...

R1200rt rear carrier

Never fitted a top box to my 2007 RT. Now i have one coming to me but i think i may have a problem. Checking the rack today, it seems to be just made of plastic. which i don't think that it would be strong enough to hold any weight. Is there a metal frame under the plastic?. Do i have to strengthen...

How many have you owned?

How many different BMW models have you owned?. My first was an R45. This bike was totally different from the jap bikes id owned before but there was something about the character. The way it rocked side to side when revving, how the suspension would lift when accelerating. Then came an R80RT ex-poli...
