Re: Loom for topbox
It's an annoying situation alright. I wanted to add central locking to my Givi topbox, I even found a (the?) company that makes the plug that is required to connect to the factory connection on the R1200RT LC. I tried contacting the company with a view to purchasing some connectors, but they never r...

Re: Micro SD Cards
Sandisk, Samsung, or Kingston should be reliable, (Lexar is another big brand but I've not used them), Sandisk is my preferred memory card brand.

Re: What type of Sealant?
A non-acid cure silicon would be a reasonable bet.
Like they use for metal guttering, etc, shouldn't cause corrosion of the cast housing and its finnish.

Re: Can I change tyre pressure Indicator from Bar to PSI?
I live in Australia, we're a metric country, my tyre pressure readout is in PSI. I only use PSI for car, motorcycle and bicycle tyre pressures, it's what I learnt and the other units seem to have harder to remember numbers. It seems easy to remember that high 30s are a good starting point for car an...

Re: Poll of Tyre Options - R 1200 RT, K26 (2012)
My Metzeler Roadtec 01 tyres came off at the 60,000 km service last week. I'd done 14,000 km on them and was very happy with the way they worked for me. The front had flat sides, giving a triangular profile, but still gave great grip and confidence. The rear was low in the centre and did not have lo...

I'd say call around local tyre dealers for specials on previous model tyres.

The SW Motech bags and mounts are good, good looking, well made and not hard to fit.
I suspect the Givi system is good too.

Re: Auxiliary light switch for LC
Your local electronics specialist would be a good place to start looking. Here in Australia, Jaycar have some quality switches with waterproof ratings that would do the job and look good in the audio control panel area. Wherever you live should have a hobby type electronics shop with simil...

Re: Leaking Brake Fluid
I haven't removed the cover to see how the seal is arranged. At a service I showed the workshop that it was weeping and they said they'd have a look at it. On the service invoice it just showed that they'd removed the cover and flattened the mating face on an oilstone. It hasn't weeped since. I'd as...

Re: R1200rt "speakers off" how to turn on?
Hi Peter, checked with BMW dealer today and they ran vin to make sure I had all the software updates. Then suggested it may be locked up as I tried to connect iPhone without the BMW y cable. He suggested disconnecting the battery will reset the computer. I did this and then when turning the bike ba...

Re: Leaking Brake Fluid
I had a bit of a weep/leak on mine, the metal cover needed to be oilstoned flat and then it sealed OK.

Re: R1200rt "speakers off" how to turn on?
I've got the same bike, as delivered the speakers worked, radio and USB music played on the speakers. Then I set up the Bluetooth intercom on my helmet to connect with the bike and Nav V. Now I have no music or anything out of the speakers. It seems that once you've paired a Bluetooth headset or sim...

Re: 2016 Rt - Givi V56 Maxia 4 Top Box Installed
I have the same top box on my 2014 LC RT and it's fine at over 200 km/h. Good space and well sealed.
As noted already, when it's off, the aluminium mount plate just belnds in and doesn't draw attention to itself.

Re: Curious & random strating problem
I had a similar issue, the dash background reverting to the RT logo, not sure about the trip meter thing.
It would happen after a failed starting attempt, motor turned over, perhaps backfired, or just spluttered and stopped again.
A new battery at the next service fixed it.
