Re: Stalling issues

Called the service tech today and explained what was happening. I think I'm facing an up hill battle. I didn't mention recall, was hoping he would have said or mentioned what RTman wrote above. Would the problem come up in a code check? I plan on taking it for a long ride tomorrow on some back roads...

Re: February winter road trip

Don't you just hate west coast Americans sometimes. Here in sub tropical Nottingham the sun has been out all day but its not managed to thaw the frost on the road.  Back to the Napoleon. I did motorcycle courier work in Washington DC year round for a long time. I dreaded knowing knowing I'...

Stalling issues

For the second time in a month and a half my '11 rt has stalled, flamed out while coasting up to a stop sign to make a  right hand turn. Weird. Clutch in and coasting. It starts right back up but it shouldn't be happening. Also it will burble and hesitate every once in a while I blip the th...

Re: Fresh blood! Considering purchasing an RT

With the mileage you have the bike is probably on its second set.  I never seemed to get much more than 5K out of a set before they went off. I got in touch with the original owner and he said those were the stock tires that came with the bike. He logged over 11,700 miles on them. Brought ...

Winter? What is this winter you speak of? I was breaking in my new Pilot 3's yesterday at around 23 degrees Celsius.  ;)

Re: Right hand switch cluster

Took my '11 rt in for new tires today and learned of the recall. Also got fitted with a new fuel pump, combination switches on both left and right of the handlebar.

Re: Fresh blood! Considering purchasing an RT

Thanks for the input boys! The tires are worn, the front is cupped fairly moderate and the rear has a pretty significant flat spot where it's obvious the previous owner used the bike for straight line use only. I'm pretty sure these are the original tires. I haven't set the sag yet as the original o...

Re: What have you got planned for 2015?

I went to an international school in Islamabad Pakistan in the mid '70s. All my friends had dirtbikes there and we had an absolute blast riding in the foothills of the Himalayas. Well, almost 40 years later and I'm back in contact with the same bunch of guys and they all still love their motorcycles...

Re: RT or not RT

Yes, it's an RT Forum, therefore, all members will own one, however, you may have more than one bike. I've also got a 1981 Yamaha XJ650. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo80/davidsykes/BOBRenovation0002-1.jpg What other bikes have you got or had? I've always had a soft spot for that bike. I like...

Re: Fresh blood! Considering purchasing an RT

Congrats on your new bmw! I bought an '11 r1200rt premium with 11,700 miles for 10k in excellent condition needing only new sneakers. I think I got a really good deal. I've had it for about a month and to be completely honest, I'm still undecided if I'm keeping it or not. I've never had or ridden a ...
