Reset to defaults

Took my 2016 RT for a ride today for the first time in a couple months.  Battery has been kept on a battery tender, and should have been fully charged.  It has keyless ignition, so I pressed the ignition button and it went through the normal startup sequence as it should. ...

Re: 2017 BMW R1200RT US Pricing???

In my experience, they will move very little (if any) on price.  Depends partly on how many dealers you have in the area, and whether they are in competition for your business.  I paid list price on my 2016 RT in Portland.  The only other dealer at the time was in Eugene, ...

Re: Shuberth C4 Reviews

Have had my C4 here in Ontario Canada since the beginning of the summer I've put about 3,000 KMS with it. Great helmet, easy pair with my 17 RT.  Never had to re-pair with BT, I only connect to my iPhone and not the Bike's NAV prep which has my old Nuvo 660 attached.  I also have ...

Re: Shuberth C4 Reviews

Haven't had my C4 long and only have a couple hundred miles on it, but: (a) The sound from the built in speakers is fine, and synching up the SRC unit via bluetooth to the stereo/GPS was easy. (b) Noise level is comparable to my C3 Pro - difficult to say if it's much different.  It's at le...

Re: Shuberth C4 Reviews

Helmets are so personal - have you tried one on yet? Thanks for the links. I have tried the helmet on, and it seems to fit my head well.  But how it fits in the store is not necessarily how it feels after 8 hours on the highway.  And of course, I have no idea how quiet it really i...

Shuberth C4 Reviews

For any of you that own and have been using a C4, can you comment on your experience with it?  I am strongly considering buying one, I like the hidden SC1 comm system, and am looking for a helmet that's very quiet, and of course comfortable.  Reading some reviews on Revzilla that a...

Re: Tie down points when using a trailer

Thanks for that the only part I find confusing is no tension on bike suspension as mentioned. It works best if you have someone help you.  Have them sit on the bike and balance it while you tighten the straps.  Once they step off, the straps will naturally tighten up a bit.&nb...

Re: Tie down points when using a trailer

I just hauled my RT halfway across the states using a U-Haul bike trailer.  The tie down areas are on the forks in the front, just above the cross-brace, being careful not to pinch brake lines or other wiring.  In the rear, connect to the frame just behind the foot pegs.  ...

Re: Removing adhesive residue from windscreen

standard nail varnish removal fluid. perfect. If you mean acetone, I would not get that anywhere near plastic.  It works great on a chrome bumper, but not a plastic or painted surface. Maybe you have a different formula than we do, but in the states, nail polish remover is about 99% acetone.

Twisting throttle when bike is off.

I believe that since the RT is fuel-injected, and also fly-by-wire, that twisting the throttle while the bike is off does nothing.  Unlike in the old days or on car when you'd pump the gas peddle and flood the engine.  Can anyone confirm this for sure?  2016 RTLC.

Re: Removing adhesive residue from windscreen

WD-40 is safe for plastic, but just be sure to clean it all off afterwards.  The residue can damage plastic over time especially in the sun.  Another safe alternative is mineral spirits, with the same caveats about cleanup afterwards.  A friend of mine swears by olive oil,...

Re: new 2017 R1200RT Battery charging

My bike came from the dealer with a battery tender cable already attached to the battery and nicely zip-tied to the frame.  They do this for all new bikes as they are installing the battery.  Picked up a decent battery tender at Costco, and it works beautifully.  No reason...
