Re: 2016 RT With A Rear Car Tire
I want to see somebody like Pirelli or Bridgestone, who also make car tyres, produce a high mileage tyre which they advertise as "based on car technology". Cruiser tyres would be like that, they're hard and sturdy to take the big weight and lots of running on the centre part of the tread.

Burn him! Burn Him, he's a witch!
How do we tell if he's a witch?
Look, if he puts a car tyre on his RT and doesn't crash he must be a witch.

That's why the factory top box is so big, you keep a spare toddler in there along with the spare headlight globes.Simon wrote:How do BMW expect you to do it at the roadside unless you've got hands the size of a toddler's?

One of my H7 dipped headlight bulbs has failed... Any recommendations as to the best make / model bulb to use? I like the idea of some "50% brighter" type bulb... Osram Night Racer 110 or the Narva repackaging of the same Narva Blue Plus 110 Reformulated gas, over run filament, ...

Re: Poll of Tyre Options - R 1200 RT, K26 (2012)
The Metzeler fitment guide recommends a standard version 01 for the front & a HWM 01 for the rear. Yes, but my motorcycle tyre dealer/fitter (well regarded and in business a long time) advised me to get the HWM front and rear on my RT. I took that advice and have had no reason to regret or ques...

Re: Red dot on tire
Apparently the coloured dots indicate the lightest point of the tyre, or sometimes the high point of radial runout. As you note they are there as a guide to the tyre fitter. In your case the alignment is close, I'm sure it is not critical, and a small misalignment like you have makes no practical di...

Crikey, that's about $280 Australian. Considerably more than I had imagined.

Re: Riders seat comfort & footpegs - 2014 RT LC?
I'm 6' 3" with a 34" inseam and I put the stock seat on the high position, that lifts the front. I find I can move back and forward a limited amount and be comfortable. I reckon a higher seat would improve leg comfort. I do get a little bit of a sore bum, but nothing much, I ride 700 + km ...

It's an interesting phenomenon, I think I may be lucky and haven't had a bike where the vibration was objectionable or caused hand numbness.

Re: Heavier Bar End Grip Weights
If this was such a panacea for vibration, why don't BMW fit them from the factory?
Is there some trade-off for reducing the vibration that people complain of in a particular rev range, with a new or different problem?

Re: Grip puppies - fatigue
I'm much better off with them on.
The standard grips (2014 LC) are too small diameter for my large hands and were uncomfortable.
With the foam sleeves on I don't get the discomfort. I never really noticed an issue with vibration.

Yeah, I thought about how to phrase it, the UK is still part of Europe, even if it's no longer part of the EU.David. wrote: Soon to be the UK or should that be England after Brexit & the next Scottish referendum.

... people mention "OEM" and "LC" abreviations and I'm not sure what these mean. OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer, IE. BMW original accessories and parts LC = Liquid Cooled, the 2014 and onward bikes with the water-cooled boxer motor. I live in Australia and there seem to b...
