David,
I think you may have saved me a lot of bother, that certainly looks like the ABS sensor plug.
Thanks for your efforts...

Re: Removing fuel tank
Anybody know if I could get away with just removing the storeage compartment for fitting the front abs sensor instead of taking the tank of?
And if so, does the storeage compartment come off easiy enough?

Removing fuel tank
I need to replace the front ABS sensor on my R1200RT 2012, and for this I need to remove the fuel tank. I can see that the wiring/hoses at the top left fuel pump cluster needs removed and also the breather pipe and the 4 retaining bolts, is there anything connected to the underside or does the tank ...

Re: Rear caliper mounting bolt
Trapezodial thread is used in high load situations. The thread top and bottom are squared off and the side wall is usually at a steeper angle. Personally I would mess with brake components that have been designed and specified for that particular application such as good "shear" propertie...

Rear caliper mounting bolt
Hello Guys, I am ordering from Pro-Bolt a selection of stainless steel fasteners. I am looking for the dimensions of the rear brake caliper mounting bolts on a 2012 R1200RT From what I can see via the parts fiche it is a M8x25......but it has a trapezodial thread.....what is that? or am I reading wr...

Re: Brake calliper q
Think the case was against Brembo in the first place. If the bolts are just tarnished a bit of gloss black paint will sort them. And remember stainless steel can be brittle and is the reason it's not used in the first place. Sound advice RTman... [size=78%].......aren't...

Re: Poll of Tyre Options - R 1200 RT, K26 (2012)
How many of you have the ability to ride to the limits of any of the popular tyres?
Certainly not me.
I read through the comments on tyre threads suggesting that they are grippy when leaned over or tetchy until warmed up.
Seriously?

Re: Brake calliper q
Don't do it. Could be the most expensive bit of cosmetic work you will ever do and there are safety implications. I recall many years ago I was told replacement bolts and seals to split the calliper were once available but after a legal case in the US after a repair went wrong they were w...

Re: Brake calliper q
I have not been able to find a torque value for the calliper pinch bolts. Could someone inform me of the material that the calliper is made of so that I can make an educated guess at the torque. Bolt is M8x40 stainless steel 316, Probolt suggest a maximum torque on the bolt of 28NM, I would like to ...

Re: Riding with luggage & pillion
Our routine is that the wife asks if Im ready for her to get on. I then ensure both feet are planted and also apply front brake and then brace myself. The missus then uses the left pillion step and my shoulder to climb on with. Works fine for us!!
