Aren’t we getting a bit off-topic now? The OP was about people trying to deceive others into thinking they were police officers, nothing to do with the various merits of different training schemes.

Re: Coronavirus
I'm shocked and alarmed. Our next door neighbour got taken in hospital last night with breathing difficulties. She's been confirmed as having Covid-19 and placed on one of the new Dyson ventilators.... She's picking up nicely. Hmm....not funny. My brother-law-law has just been released from intensi...

Re: Impersonating a police officer
I ride a white RT and am conscious of the fact it looks superficially like a police bike to the average road user, and I do have dayglo red stickers on the rear of the panniers to help prevent being rear-ended in London traffic. But I wouldn’t do or wear anything that deceives other road users. Imag...

Re: The Nod
One thing about riding in Europe etc is that riders tend to put their left arm out and down to acknowledge other riders which works well. In the UK that wouldn’t work (other side of the road) so it’s become usual to do a sort of nod that can look more like a nervous twitch! Sent from my iPhone using...

Re: The Nod
I too grew up in an era when bike riders would all nod or raise an arm. Nowadays however I find that a lot of people don’t and I’ve decided I can’t be bothered either. One BMW enthusiast and self employed mechanic who is well known on the UKGSer website once said that just because someone chooses to...

Re: I'm new, please be gentle.
Let’s hope you have better conditions than we had! Visibility on the pass was down to about 20 yards with howling wind and driving rain. This got so bad that after two days of this we had to abandon going any further north on the NC500 and return back home to London. Don’t underestimate the midges e...

White is the best colour, good choice! I’ve done 20,000 miles on mine without a problem and enjoyed every ride.[emoji106]

Re: Nav v time
Thanks for this. Just done mine and it works! After the update and restart it needed to connect with a satellite to correct the time. Cheers.BoB21 wrote: F Y I just updated express and Nav 5 jumped in Tardis and now back in 2019 and on time. Hooray

Re: Nav v time
Yes, mine currently shows 2 Apr 2000. I don’t think it affects the nav function of the unit but will follow the topic in the event of a fix from Garmin.

Re: BMW Service History
Back to the OP, a potential buyer, private or dealer, is only likely to look for stamps in the book, rather than interrogate the BMW service history. As posted previously, I'm prepared to have bespoke servicing done on my bike by the BMW dealer. When the bike was 3 years old, I had an oil & fil...

Re: BMW Service History
Yes, they stamp the book because I have requested & they have carried out a BMW Service. Yes, an invoice is received for the work done. No, not necessarily, proof of servicing plus invoices from the servicing retailer are required. Having said that, BMW will have access to all the service recor...

Re: BMW Service History
The dealers will just say, "the computer says" , your bike needs this, this & this doing at that age & mileage. I make the decisions myself on what the dealers do & what I do. Are they happy to stamp the book despite them not doing everything on the maintenance schedule? And i...

Re: BMW Service History
Likewise, if like me, you are a seasonal rider, then the insured warranty can be paid for monthly, allowed to lapse (in the winter) and renewed the following year. My approach is to get the BMW dealers to do the minimum, whilst hopefully maintaining the T&C's of the insured warranty. Sounds lik...

Re: BMW Service History
If the service history has lapsed, my understanding is, providing the bike is serviced (up to date) prior to applying for an insured warranty, then this is acceptable. On behalf of a friend, I enquired with BMW Warranty Services, they confirmed this to be the case. Thanks for that, seems like you c...
