Re: If you could upgrade one item before a tour...
I know this might not be everyone's cup of tea as a solution to seating comfort, but I'd tend to agree, a lot of time the OEM stuff is ok, but I've found the riding experience can be affected by the type of underwear used. The elasticated seams on some products can be really abrasive. A solution I a...

RT Models since 1978
My BMW twin experiences began with an R80/7 with an RS fairing. It had a high ratio bevel box and did it go on an open road...back in 1983. Subsequent twin riding included an R100gs (how I wish I'd still got that one!), and an r65LS, when I fell on harder times! Used an R80RT on my initial police bi...

Re: Planning on using Channel Tunnel think twice
Do bikes get held up in operation stack or continue to the terminal?
Just booked my crossing for later in the month and resigned to hitting some problems!
Will be taking some provisions just in case!

One week on.....
.....with a few hundred miles under the wheels of the 2010 TC, I'm really enjoying it and have now planned my trip to the Alpes later this month.....striking French shirkers permitting of course! Positives are clearly positional comfort and handling....that first ride back from over the Cat and Fidd...

Re: RTLC Remapped
Does make you wonder why BMW don't get it as good out the factory! Or is it that they don't want to compromise reliability!
Was speaking to a dealer today who suggests the glut of LC bikes is the result of riders returning to air cooled twins?
Or is it the end of so many BMW finance deals?

05RT saga
Having chewed over the decision on the 05 RT, something didn't feel right! Switch gear well worn, clutch issues....didn't just feel the right decision. Cancelled order. On the hunt again! So now looking for a twin cam, 10-12 with lowish miles! Nearly made a real mistake today....looked at a really l...

Re: Hill Assist
Hate this system with a passion....even the electronic handbrake on my Volvo!
Is it not a basic skill to operate throttle and front brake with one hand to effect a smooth hill start?
Sorry if it offends!

Re: Thank you
Indicator alterations. Probably done by somebody who used to read MCN when they continually complained about the 3 switch set up. Since BMW dropped it they have gone the other way. Thanks....personally, always been a fan of the unique BMW indicator set up! Something they 'had' r...

new to the 1200rt forum.....due to take on an 05-1200RT later in the month. No stranger to BMW... R80/7, R65LS, K75C, K100RS (x2), 1200GS (x2) ... But made a silly mistake last time I swapped to. Triumph Sprint GT ..... Nothing at all wrong with the bike, loved riding it, but only if I rode for no m...
