Re: Weather protection

Made some modifications (those who don't like the look of these Tupperware can stop reading here). Have not had a chance to test how well these parts prevent the dirt spray and ride also almost never without the panniers but noted that they still leave a small opening in front of the panniers.&n...

Re: Pannier modification

Thanks for your business proposals. Unfortunately I have no ambition to start any production but the idea is free for all. Velcro makes certainly also the job and have also seen some aftermarket inner bags with an extra external pocket that fits in the same space. Speaking of unused space, my seat i...

Re: Ideal tankbag R1200RT LC?

Thanks to all for your wise comments. Current score;  OEM BMW 2  - After Market 3. Yes, I have the fully featured 49 liter top box, but I still believe that we will need some extra storage space for our coming long tours.  Prefer also to have one bag that easily can be rem...

Ideal tankbag R1200RT LC?

Still a few months waiting for spring and this year's first tour, at least in our surroundings but it also means some more time for skiing to plan for the next Summer's longer tours. Tankbag, what are your thoughts.  Buy the OEM LC Rucksack (somewhat small) or any other alternative. Waterpr...

Re: Weather protection

Hi Pope "As you can see, I tested them in the rain and they worked a teat at keeping all the crud of our boots".

Glad to hear that they did the work and that you were satisfied
Cheers

Re: Weather protection (installation)

Got a pm from a user if the kit was easy to install? Piece of cake (even I managed to figure out without any instructions) Have today also the Repair Manual DVD and checked if there was any information about installation of these part and what a surprise, yes. Made some screen clips and copied them ...

Re: Pannier modification

Looking at the background of your garage/workshop you are a man with a plan SweRT. Mind you when the snow comes what else is there to do in Sweden? Oh yeah I know  :silence: My plan a couple of years ago was to build a more useful garage for my other winter “projects”. Completed, with the ...

Pannier modification

Got an idea Noted that use of the BMW OEM inner bags in the panniers leave a small but unused space behind the inner bags. To make life easier for two persons on one bike during a few weeks Europe tour it may be worth to take every opportunity to increase the storage space even for small stuff. To m...

Re: Weather protection

Fine with further posts from all other well informed RT owners. The panels I installed were the OEM parts for 2014- Your knowledge has clarified the possibilities for bikes up to 2013
Hope I have not misled anyone with my initial post in this topic

Re: Weather protection

Nice for you 7vwh, rather fair price both in UK and DE. Seems that we have to support the Swedish poor suffering BMW dealers more than just the tax difference. Hope you will be satisfied with the improvement and the appearance but, as you should have noted, no guarantee to any of these from my side&...

Weather protection

Saw that this topic was discussed on the German RT Forum and must say that we also noticed during our first ride in the rain that our boots became more wet than on our previous bike, maybe not mine but my passengers and also the inside of her legs. Since we do not always ride on dry roads in Sweden ...

Re: New Member - Sweden

Thanks for your welcome messages but so far I haven't taken any that amazing photos of the bike as our friend “down under” loaded up (hello to Waratah). Only one standard shot taken outside the garage, a Quarts Blue RT ready for the winter rest But with -17 C° in the chilly Sweden yesterday I prefer...
