Re: Damn headlight bulb replacement!

I remove the side panels, mirrors and dash surround, this makes access way easier. I takes me about 10 minutes to remove all the plastic (16 screws total), and about 10 minutes to change all 3 bulbs, with another 10 minutes to get all the plastic back on. I have a 2009 machine and XL hands. Removing...

I was only reporting what the cheerful soul at my now ex-dealer told me.

Re: Are rear brakes on the RT purposely weak?

If I press hard on the back brake only I can get the ABS to kick in, meaning I have lost adhesion, meaning the tyre is doing all it can and the braking effort has exceeded the friction between the tyre and the road. The only way to increase effectiveness is to either increase the value of µ (by usin...

Re: Brake Fluid Change 2013 Twin Cam RT

It's worth activating the ABS via the rear brake pedal every now and then to circulate any fluid that's within the ABS pump. I do it every now and then when I start a ride, just stand on the brake when there is no-one behind you on leaves or when it is wet. Also, if you push the bike around with th...

Re: Mirror retention cables

Get a bit of wire and 2 blue ring crimps, crimp them up and you have your tether. Strong enough to hold mirrors anyway.

Re: Aftermarket LED headlights now a UK MOT fail!

The other thing my unhelpful dealer told me is that where a machine was originally sold with ABS, it must be fitted and working, so if it has been removed it is a fail. Going to be interesting

Aftermarket LED headlights now a UK MOT fail!

Today I was told my RT could not be tested because it is fitted with LEDs, not the original tungsten. Apparently this changed in January but was not enforced until the beginning of February. Please note that since January 2021, the MOT Inspection manual has been updated to include LED bulbs. Section...

Re: BMW Bluetooth comm system stopped working

I have had this happen when the battery ran too low, it would not charge and the green light stayed on. This video shows how to remove the liner https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_cFV6Wf30k but once you have done that you need to remove the polystyrene as well, the battery and circuit board are betwe...

Re: Trouble getting into 1st gear

If my 2009 does not want to go into 1st when it is cold I just let the clutch out slightly while apply normal pressure to the gear shift. Never fails, no big leaping around or grinding noises or other dramas.

Re: If you have a "blow dryer" which do you have would you recommend it?

Can I reverse the polarity on my Dyson V8 to blow clean air through the hepa filters??? [left]Don't know why you would want to do this, but it wont work for a number of reasons. Firstly, the HEPA filters are on the end of the air path, so the air going through them has already been filtered by the ...

Re: Swapping ZFE and other woes

Has anyone ever tried doing stuff with ISTA-P software? There are some kits you can buy on a well known auction site, I might have a punt.
Thanks for all the feedback.
