As the CBX, which I have known for thirty five years is so popular, here's a few more.

Re: Exhaust discolouration…?
Double skinned chrome header pipes don't discolour, as used on a 1981 Yamaha XJ650. Or my 1979 CBX 1000. Maybe twin wall pipe is not available in the Fatherland. It seems odd that the Germans use a decorative chrome finish on the LE, that then heat tarnishes. However, having worked for the Germans ...

Re: Pump
I have no experience of any other BMW so of course I cannot generalise across the brand. On my '16 RT LE when using the rear aux socket, the canbus trips.

Re: Pump
I bought an airman pump to compliment my 'plug and go'. The canbus on my 2016 RT trips out as soon as you switch the pump on. The only way this will work on my bike is via croc clips on the battery. I was a bit pissed as I bought the pump as it had the right connector for the aux sockets.

Re: 9 Easy Questions from a Lurking Newbie
2016 R1200RTlc LE. 3 best things. 1, Handles, given its size, like it has no right to. 2, Comprehensive toy box. 3, lightest of all full tourers 3 worst things. 1, Gearbox from N to first when hot. 2, Attention to detail; drilled and tapped holes in bevel box left unplugged; side stand foot too smal...

Re: Motorrad Garmin Sat Nav Bluetooth Intercom
I've just purchased the new Interphone Urban twin set to link with my Nav V. works well in my Shark Evo one and SWIMBO's Shoei. Speaker positioning is critical, I've had to made several adjustments to the Shark, Shoei fitted well using the inbuilt speaker recesses. See link below for more detail. Go...

I spoke to Cannon BMW today and they know of no RT clutch recall in the UK.

Well done. So the money you saved on fuel can go towards three bevel box plugs and an SD card.

Re: Bevel box
Mmm, wouldn't happen on a Honda. I have sourced some black plastic bungs from ebay to do what BMW should have done an an 18 grand bike. Also had to get an SD card for my brand new nav V as it can't update Europe maps due to lack of internal capacity.

Bevel box
So, a couple of weeks into ownership of my 2016 RT LE with black drivetrain, I note three tapped holes in the bevel box. What are they for?

Re: Warm up Engine for 2 to 5 minutes
When I purchased my 1200 RT, the sales manager told me that it was important to "warm up the engine for 2-5 minutes before driving." With fuel engine and computerized control of fuel and air, I believe that any warm up period exceeding 1 minute was not necessary. Idling the engine is not ...

Re: Full face Helmet or Flip front
Take a look at the Shark Evo One. New for 2016 it fits my Arai head and transforms from a full face to a jet type. Clever bit of French kit.
Follow the link for the tech stuff and a video. Shark do pretty well on the SHARP tests as well.

Re: Open face helmet ...?
I've just bought a Shark Evo One. It transforms from a full face type, to a jet type easily. May well be the way forward for those who want the convenience of both styles in one helmet. Seems well made, not quite as sumptuous as my Arai, but its nearly two hundred quid cheaper.
