Good news! My RT 'Roxette' has been back to Williams and their techy sorted the problem. Apparently it was an issue with the wiring at the back of the sat nav cradle. Happy to report all is well now.

Thanks for the kind offer Maz12.  I am pretty sure the fault lies within the cradle somewhere so I will see what the dealer says.  You're having a new engine fitted. Paint blistering problems I guess? My previous RT (2014) was on its third engine because of that!

That will be my next action. I would pop down to the dealer today but it is trying to snow up here (twixt Oldham and Rochdale) so if it continues like that I may wait until next weekend.

RTMan10. I use the recommended BMW bike cleaner and follow up with a spray and wipe of AC50.(after drying off) I also take the fairing lowers off to so I can check everywhere. Jacksnipe. The bike is a 2014 RT. The original engine suffered from paint blistering and was replaced as a goodwill gesture. The replacement engine soon started to blister and was also replaced under goodwill.  So far the 3rd engine is fine but bevel box and swingarm are starting to blister...

I also use AC50 and the engine looks fine but the rear bevel box has started to bubble and there is a little bubble or two on the driveshaft cover very close to the rubber joint. I am on the third engine now and enough is enough. More time at the dealers than riding or so it seems!
