Re: Suspension warning light

How many people do take the extended warranty? I didn't it seemed very expensive, almost like BMW have no confidence in their product

Re: what if

I had a 1200gs as a loan bike during a service the gearbox was increadably smooth, I guessed it was a luck of the draw and maybe I got a Friday afternoon bike.

Re: Wunderlich elephant tank bag

Thanks, how does the "baseplate" attach? I believe the BMW bag requires some gluing which I'm not keen on.

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?

Oh nearly forgot the right left action of the multi purpose switch controller thing stopped working some time ago but the dealer replaced this foc! As it appears to have been overlooked from my first post I will repeat: it's the best bike I've ever had and corrosion aside I would chose it again but ...

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?

I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused. You say that you didn't insist on replacement....of what exactly, a specific component that was corroding, or several bits? Of the parts that imho were corroding under the fancy coating when supplied. As a second hand bike it only had 1 year warranty and it onl...

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?

You think that  tyre that lasts "only" 9,200 miles is "appalling"??? You're obviously either very gentle on your tyres or very tolerant of badly worn rubber.  In all my years of riding I have yet to get a rear tyre to perform half-decently beyond 6,000 and I wi...

Re: Nov 2015 LC - Corrosion has started !!!!

Coated my 2014 in ACF50 but the corrosion comes from inside the finish - it is a design flaw - reported whilst still in warranty but Dicklovetts of Bristol did nothing. I'll ride her till she drops but the next bike wont be a BMW - shame as otherwise I love the bike.

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?

I bought a top-of-the-range all-options-fitted 2014 model on Feb 2015 which was handed back due to the suspension issue. It had 6000 miles on when I got it and now has 29,000 miles on it. I love the bike. Had the sticking flap that was fixed after the 1 year warranty (goodwill) BUT I would say that ...

Re: Reliability of the R1200RT---year after recall

Got my recall bike on Feb 1st with 4k miles on it. I'm 400miles short of my 12k service! No issues apart from consumables ie one front tyre @ 6k miles, one rear at 10kmiles, rear brake pads at 10k. Wear on front tyre is very odd flattens on the rhs will try different tyre next time. Sent from my iPh...

Don't need much space for a wallet once you've bought the bike ;o)

Re: Bluetooth with Zumo and Autocom

Ahead of a July trip to Spa (I work with Rosso Verde Ferrari  458 team in the British GTs) I'm trying to decide between F5mc and Sena 20s for com's, price is in favour of the F5 but having an opening front helmet I like the idea of the boom mike with the 20s and there doesn't appear to be a...

Re: New RT lc owner

Welcome etc, I considered the Triumph (liked the service intervals better!) But before I rode one I tried the RT and lost interest in everything else. FJR was a contender except for the pannier/top box issue. The RT just doesn't ride like a big/heavy bike and after doing Stelvio on the Bandit 600 la...

Re: Wales 3 day mini tour

I'm contemplating a D-Day tour in September and have already looked at a Norway trip and a trip across to Ireland clockwise around, into Scotland up to Skye back through Edinburgh down through Lake District and into and back home through Wales!
