Re: Guess the make

Actually, you are right! It IS a two stroke, 1955 two cylinder bike. They were the big old Zundapp's  and BMW,'s mini me's  :alas: From my phone that jug looked like a quirky 4 stroke or it’s time to upgrade my readers! I remember seeing tons of MZ 250s when I lived in Paris in th...

Never knew MZ made anything other than two strokes. Very cool.

Re: Riding a 2018 RT after 10k on a 2010 TC

I've only ridden 1 rt and that's my '11. I love everything about it but would really like more power. As it is, it boogies right along but rather pedestrian as it lumbers up to speed. I pretty much know for a fact that I'd want to sell or trade mine in on a '14 or newer if I rode one. Precisely why ...

Re: what if

What if BMW put a larger displacement engine in future models. I realize fuel economy would decrease but would the fun factor entice you? Just a little food for thought. Or is it sacrilegious to even fathom the thought? Well, well, well. How do you boys feel now about the ‘19  model? Perso...

oily residue on lower pant leg

This one is stumping me. The last 6 months or so I'm noticing an oily, dirty patch on my lower right pants cuff near the boot. Nothing on the left boot side. I've checked for leaks, etc. Very peculiar.

B2TBike, no, I'm not a veteran of the armed forces. It's a nickname for an old motocrosser when I raced the veteran class (old guys). To answer your question, no I ride in all parts of my lane when I have good visibilty/reaction time to the vehicle in front of me.

Re: IAM Advanced Rider Training - Observed Ride #2

Interesting video! Thanks! Something I noticed though is that you seemed to ride in the middle of your lane while behind traffic. Maybe it was the camera angle or the small screen on my phone but I try not to ride in the middle of the lane behind traffic because of possible debris that a car can saf...

Re: Is this R1200RT the right bike for me? Need advice.

I think you're gonna dig it. I have an '11 also. Took me a while to adapt to a boxer configuration since I've only had inline 4s and inline twins. I came close to reverting back to an inline 4 but decided to keep the rt. Glad I did! Absolute jewel on distance trips and a hoot on the twistie bits. Yo...

Re: "Distance in a Day"

Back in '86 I had a dumb idea of riding my new '86 gsxr 1100 from Washington DC to Omaha Ne. straight through. Only stopping for gas and a bite to eat, 24 hours and almost 1200 miles. The speed limit was 60-65 mph back then if I remember right. I was seeing dinosaurs at about hour 17. Hallucinating ...

Re: rear shock rebuild

Update, finally got the bike to a dealer for the rear shock rebuild. Attempt number 1 failed. Which was simply putting new seals in. Apparently, the shock shaft has to be re-chromed. I waited to long between when the tech said to get it in here and damaged the shock shaft allowing oil to leak out.&a...
