Re: MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 GT

I have about 6500 miles on a set of PR4s .  They are great on my 05 RT.  I have been a little heavier on the throttle than the tires before.  I figure if I was gentle, I could get as much as 10k out of them.  But, I am never really gentle. Sent from my SM-T310 usi...

Re: Engine cut out at low or idle speed

Just a shot in the dark.  Have you tried disconnecting the battery, reconnecting the battery and then doing the computer reset by turning on the ignition (not starting), twisting the throttle all the way three times.  Then shuting off the ignition and then on again. I have had a si...

Re: 2007 vs 2015 RT

Well my 2007 model I acquired last month only has 18,000 miles on the clock and runs like a dream. As I have never tried the latest model I do not miss what I have not ridden !!!  :) My 2005 rt has 63k miles on it and it runs beter than ever.  Very comfortable and smooth.&nbsp...

Re: Head Gasket

One of the dealers here in denver recommends the gaskets be changed as well and automatically does that unless requested otherwise by the client.  According to the service mgr, the last thing they want to do is return the bike leaking oil.  I think it is totally unnecessarily.&...

Re: brake failure light

Check both the brake fluid reservoir in the front and the back of the bike.  If the fluid is low on either, it could cause it.  Also, the brake warning will come on when the bike first starts until the bike starts moving forward.  You may have already checked these things,...

Re: 2007 vs 2015 RT

I'll stick with my '05.  It has 62k on it runs great and is paid for. . If I went new,  I would be more than 20k poorer,  couldn't maintain it myself and have a big depreciation hit..  The 05 is plenty bike for me.

Re: RTWC rear brake pad wear

I Changed to after market ebc sintered.  If the rotors wear more than ok.  But the grooves have smoothed out from wear rear rotor still in spec. Not going to worry.

Re: RTWC rear brake pad wear

Yes.  With 61,000 miles on my '05 RT and after replacing my rear brake pads 5 times, Several things come into play here: 1) Excessive use of your rear brake pedal (which really isn't necessary, if not trail braking, due to the linked system) will wear the rear pads excessively. 2) The singl...

Re: Starter retraction squeal

Well,  I have owned my RT since 2007.  I have performed all of the maintenance on it with the exception of the recall items and brake flush. . With over 60K on it,  I have found repetition is the best teacher.

Re: Starter retraction squeal

It would be my pleasure to share what I know.  I am not the greatest wrench for sure.  I think I lack confidence more then anything else.  But, I had done it before.  So, experience is the best teacher. I think this will have to be another preventative maintenance...

Pr4s are great tires on my '05.  Have about 3k on them and love them.

Re: Starter retraction squeal

Did the work today. . Removed the starter. . There was caked on grime on the bendix shaft. . The confusing thing is: the bendix shaft and gear are covered by a hood.  That hood only allows exposure of the gear where it meshes with the flywheel. . So the question is where is all the dirt com...
