Re: To Warrant or not to Warrant

You get a European wide BMW assistance in with the £400 which covers hire car or bike plus hotels if things go really wrong while on a tour, plus if you have a breakdown in another country it's going to take some of the drama out of it. I wouldn't have a BMW bike without a warranty  8)

Re: Garmin Express update

All done, but picked up a mini USB cable that didn't work (some just power and will not transfer data) and then had to use the pc control panel to tell it was connected aagghh
But! Successful in the end

Re: Route Planning Software - what do you use?

The difference apparently is the way TomTom and a Garmin come up with the route calculation. I was also informed that to stop getting into trouble on goat tracks you should set your Nav 5 and 6 to car. It will ask you each time you get on the bike but I have found this to be a really good tip!

Re: Route Planning Software - what do you use?

Ok so I have a Nav6, and last year used Tyre on my PC, did all my route planning, exported in .gpx format, happy days. Tyre no longer uses google maps, shows straight lines to waypoints, and is no longer supported. Changed to myrouteapp.com sort of OK with it but it only shows road names not number...

Re: An Admiral Gesture

I did benefit from the Admiral offer not that I have actually seen any cash or credit!

I bought a extended warranty for my 2018 bike in March to start in April and BMW have extended my warranty for two months (which I thought was a nice gesture without asking).

Re: Auxiliary Headlights

Would that refer more to darkness? In Surrey, Sussex and London most people are looking at their phones, texting or playing with the satnav so that the chance of dazzling someone is zero.

Re: Auxiliary Headlights

And not much traffic on the roads unlike the smoke, I am often in Durham and Northumberland and only get a friendly wave from the traffic guys be it in a car or on a bike. Riding with your day running light and BMW fitted LED s will not cause any concern in my experience. As a vulnerable road user d...

Re: Auxiliary Headlights

As a vulnerable road user it's definitely encouraged, Surrey and London. I have also been stopped in Wales as every motorcyclist has by traffic, and complemented on the light configuration of a RT. Irish police RT s are lit up the same. I also passed my I A M Advanced Test with a F1rst with the bike...

Re: Auxiliary Headlights

In the UK it is more than acceptable to use the auxiliary fog lights, having been on a few bikesafe days the traffic police positively encouraged it. It's better than scrapping you off the road because you haven't been seen. The triangular lighting set up is apparently the most visible and reduces t...
