Re: RT touring screen
I have a Vstream screen and it's better than the stock screen, but.... it creates a vacuum and "sucks" me forward at speeds over 50 mph, which can get quite uncomfortable.

Re: RT v GS
but you won't be the laughing stock of all non-BMW owners.
as much as the GS1200 is a good bike, I could never own one as it just screams "i've seen Long Way Down and I'm like everybody else"

Re: RT v GS
Wind and rain protection is better on the RT
With any "adventure" bike you are sitting higher and hence, in the wind blast
If you are never going off road, get an RT
With an RT you won't look like every other born-again charley farley long way down touratech wannabe

Re: Just bought an Iconic .... Lots of questions coming
let me guess:
- whats the best aftermarket screen?
- is it ok to leave it on the sidestand?
- what's your hill-start assist technique?
- is it normal for the handlebars to vibrate?
- whats the best way to wire a gps in?
- crash bars or cylinder head protectors?

Re: Suspension Query
I'm not alone. My mate has a 2010 R1200GS and he can't tell any difference either. Plenty of other folk of forums are the same.
The ESA was already on my used RT so I had no choice in it.

Re: Suspension Query
I have ESA on my 2007 RT and (like a lot of people) to be honest I can't notice any difference at all between "sport, normal and comfort" settings while riding. Is it ESA 1 or ESA 2? I've no idea. I just know it will cost £1,000 when it fails. The seat height changes when I change between ...

Re: Heavier bar end weights - where from?
the manic salamander heavier bar end weights did arrive (£160 inc posting and customs charges!), in conjunction with 'grip puppies' the vibes are certainly reduced, but still there a little bit

Re: 2016 (16 plate) R1200RT LE FOR SALE! Price reduced further to £13460.
Well, it has been sold to a BMW dealer who offered more than what it was suggested it was worth for a private sale. That means that somebody is going to buy it for it a grand more than what I was asking. Go figure! >>>>> most people are very reluctant to spend 13k in a private sale. too much risk o...

Re: Which R1200RT - Help me decide!!
I have just got a 2007 model (one of the first non-servo model)
i would go for the newer one as that's a "twin spark" model, which is supposed to be better

some dealers will place a private sellers bike in their showroom, ie they sell it for you. you choose the price and they take a one-off fee or a percentage commission.

Re: 2016 (16 plate) R1200RT LE FOR SALE! Price reduced further to £13460.
as a comparison look at this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-R-1200-RT-LE-/111986971052?hash=item1a12f191ac:g:QSwAAOSw2x1XKcF2 it's slightly older and more miles (but that's not much on a bike like this) you could probably get this for £12,500 i think if you need to sell your bike within a month you n...
