Re: Considering a used r1200rt (14-17)

2017 model has improved clutch which improves "clunking" when shifting in lower gears. The seat has 2 positions to adjust seat height. There is also a factory lower seat option. I would guess the dealer would trade out the seat if you insisted. I have 29" inseam with factory low seat ...

Re: Bike and year model in profile setting

I just updated my profile to include year/model. Nice new feature.
I notice an option to include an image in the signature. How does one do that?

Re: Tank lock tank bag

+ 1 for SW Motech bags. I've got the City. It's just the right size for me. Occasionally will blow the horn at full left lock but not often. I have 2016 RT.

Re: new 2017 R1200RT Battery charging

You must have a different model no. due to UK plug my TM245 has a USA plug molded in. I'm pretty sure the TM245 is the right model after more research but other info is conflicting.

Re: new 2017 R1200RT Battery charging

After reading this thread, I'm trying to figure out if my Optimate4 is the BMW edition. It is model TM245. Is that the BMW version? Can't seem to confirm this with a google search.

Re: Garmin, why the fascination with farm tracks?

I've given up on BaseCamp some time ago. I use Google Maps to design my route, then import the .gpx file into basecamp, then download it to the Nav V. As long as Basecamp and Nav V have same settings (avoidances, etc) it will faithfully reproduce the route when it recalculates on the Nav V.&nbsp...

Re: Ilium Sport Board Review

I've got a pair of front boards. Loved the ability to move my feet around to several positions. Several issues caused me to switch to lowered pegs. First, they get in the way when you've got your feet down. I have short inseam and found it difficult to push the bike backwards because they get in the...

Re: Motorcyle trip from Alberta, Canada to South Utah

Great video! I really enjoyed it. Loved the music too. Will have to do some searching for those artists. You've really got me pumped for my ride in a couple weeks from Michigan to Wyoming, Banff, Montana, etc.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Unusual Tyre wear?

Like I said in response earlier, keep a close eye on the rears. The rears can very suddenly wear down to the cords. I checked them at about 8k miles and they looked fine. 300 miles later they looked like image below. I originally blamed the dealer who overinflated the tire during a 12k service but m...

Re: New tank bag

Bought the same one last year. Love it and it's holding up well for about 16k miles. It's the perfect size, doesn't interfere with the handlebars. Really love the quick release system. Makes it simple to get to the fuel lid. Stores a lot of stuff, especially with the zippered expansion open. Very hi...

Re: Need help / suggestions

You need to remove the "s" in https:
Seems this software automatically puts the https: even when the address is http:
Copy the address, then paste it in another browser tab, then remove the "s".
Works every time for me.

Re: Longest Day

When I lived in England back in the late 90's I remember how quickly it got dark in the winter time. Before I went there, I lived in North Michigan. Then I looked on a map and realized that England was considerable further North than Michigan. Birmingham has latitude around 52 degrees and Michigan i...

Re: Prospective '12 RT owner

My '16 RT has been superb through 15K miles. I noticed the suspension settled a bit on mine after several thousand miles and I was able to move the low seat to the high position. I have 29" inseam. So if you're only checking out demo bikes you might want to try one with some miles on it.

Question about the forum settings

Most forum software apps that I am familiar with have an option to go to the first unread post in a thread. I can't find that feature on this forum. Am I missing something or does it just not exist?
