I wish BMW would ditch that unhelpful description (Fillister head). It really doesn't tell the end user much at all.

Re: Topbox

I have the OEM top case and it is ok.
If I were doing it again it would be the SHAD SH58.
It just would work for what I want out of the top case.
It also looks a whole lot better than the brick that BMW use!

Re: High seat

the Knight design simply replaces the stock footpeg....I do like how your boot simply sticks to them, wet or dry. Much better than the rubber. I think they look great. I wish they were available across in the UK at an acceptable price. Sadly, shipping and customs make these pegs just too expensive....

Re: Removing the front shock R1200RT?

Just a little bit later than intended but here goes:. Thanks for that write up. I think in many areas you hit the nail on the head. As an aside, for the comment you made about the bike not grabbing you emotionally (that looking back at it as you walk away). I know what you mean. My 1150RT made me l...

Re: BMW Premium Selection - Used Bike

The BMW dealer is offering a used bike for sale which they claim has had an "unbroken" BMW service history! David, you have reinforced everything I believe to be true about the FSH (full service history) claims we see when buying or selling a vehicle. It means absolutely nothing. In fact,...

Re: Curious question.

To the OP.
The 1250 is nearer to the Wethead 1200 than the Wethead is to any of the other 1200's. So it may as well stay the same except that it would be good if there were a compulsory field to add in an OP so that everyone knows what model we are talking about.

What lights are they?

Re: Fuel grade

I've noticed that UK pumps have E5 or E10 on the label.  I usually stick in 98RON for the first fill if the bike has been stood for a while, then just use standard 95RON.  Works fine. Now we are starting to see more Ethanol in fuel, we might need to start monitoring any immersed f...

Re: Removing the front shock R1200RT?

Hi J-T-L, keep us posted as to what you think of the shock changes. I know when you pay a lot of money for something you may feel obliged to say it's good, but please try to be honest! For me, it shouldn't take much to improve the stock items as they are pretty poor in terms of suppleness on choppy ...

Easier on the when riding on the left. you raise your left arm...or just extend the fingers of the right hand whilst maintaining the same throttle position.

Re: The Nod

I'm a nodder and always will be. Haha. Love this. Me? I'm more of a waver. A very casual wave, but a wave non the less. If I am riding in a built up very busy environment with loads and loads of bikes around then I don't bother. But if I am out and about, then yes a small (generally polite) hand ge...

Re: Fuel grade

Maybe i'm a cheapskate, but I run my bike on the cheapest fuel I can get (in the UK!). The bike has NEVER baulked. The performance is spot on and I am averaging over 60 (UK) MPG. I have always run my bike on the cheap stuff unless it wasn't available (or if the boss was paying for it). However as th...

Re: Another broken windshield swing arm - wide aftermarket shields too much?

I obviously don't know what size your windscreen is, but on the Hexhead/Camheads the winscreen arms have always been marginal. For those folk who have uprated the arms, I have never heard of a problems. So based on that anecdotal evidence, I think once you have the stronger arms fitted you will be f...
