Re: Dash cams

Well it is all in your needs.  Here in the USA you need your head on a swivel at all times. People are so distracted any longer it is crazy.  Between the cell phones and the infotainment systems in these new cars dashes people are so distracted. And I wont even go into younger driv...

Re: Dash cams

It is a little expensive for sure.  But you need to cover your 6 also.  Your biggest risk is rear ended at a stop, and it is why I want a rear facing camera also. I was just going to do the front but your rear end needs covered also so I will save a bit longer for the front/rear ca...

Re: Dash cams

All reports on this one are positive.  I saw them on a bike at the BMW National here in the USA and it is very nice.
I am sure there are others but on ADVRIDER and other forums guys love these.  I am saving my money for one right now.

Re: Coolant for 2014 R1200RT

This is for a 2014 RT as stated in the OP which is owned by a friend.  When doing an accessory installation we noticed it was slightly low, and wanted to top it off.  I thought just add bmw antifreeze but watched a video that called for using distilled water and antifreeze in a 50...

Re: Thinking about R1250RT

:) ) Apart of the above, it is totally waste of the money in my opinion, especially in the era of BT comms with RDS radio, up to 15 person communication, voice commands to your phone, and the music you want (anything you have installed in phone). Anyway, for keyless option. After all the bike which...

Re: Fender extender for R1250RT

Machine Art Moto will fit exactly when they release it.  They are one of the best after market manufacturers you can buy from. Their cylinder head covers are very very nice.  Their GS hand guards are super nice and very unique in allowing air in the summer, and keeping air and rain...

Re: Getting On The Bike

Sorry, Ive got a bit lost on which side of the bike you're getting on. I assumed that you were " mounting" from the left, which is the technique I've seen most when using the side stand down. As in: I step on the right side, throttle side peg.  Swing my left leg over to the groun...

Re: Getting On The Bike

I guess you need to go through it once to see how it works.  Once you step on the right peg you un weight the side stand.  Once your left foot hits the ground the bike is all but stood up and LESS weight is on the side stand. Like I say once you do the motion and watch the bike's s...

Re: Getting On The Bike

I step on the right peg and swing my left leg over onto the bike.  I can not see how you would affect the side stand this way.  The second you stand on the right peg you remove weight from the side stand not add weight so can see no way it is harmful to the side stand.

Re: Oil Level in the Viewing Window

Manual for 15 RT shows oil capacity 4L or 1.1 gallons If i’am using Castrol the bike gets 1 gallon If i’am using the rebranded Shell it gets 4L, I do the service so I know it’s not getting overfilled Well it actually says "max 4.0 l, with filter change" I was advised by people who know BM...

Re: Oil Level in the Viewing Window

Reply number 2 is the correct way to check oil on a 1200 WetHead.  There is no other way to do it correctly.  No side stand, or rum, or chickens sacrificed. When all else fails Read the Manual.  If you dont have one you can download your Owner's Manual on the BMW site. And...

Since the "light" channels are 10A you can run a pair of lights on each channel if they are under 10A.

Re: R1200rt really are special bikes

Have to say starting new to BMW with a brand new 07 LT it was very apparent what I was missing.  I came of a 05 Harley Road Glide to the LT. I then totaled the LT in 2010 and did not know if I would ever ride again as the literally screwed my head onto my spine with 4 screws and 2 rods, on ...
