Re: Swapping ZFE and other woes

When replacing a ZFE, it’s always a good idea to run the VIN of the donor bike (if available) and you can see the option codes and match them up with your bike. Re: Motoscan with amazon fire?

Not that app specifically, but have done others... You may need to do something called ‘sideloading’ to install the app. Look at this: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2019/7/8/20681267/amazon-fire-tablet-google-apps-gmail-maps-drive-play-store-how-to-get Sent from my iPhon...

The original fuel pump assembly recall we dealt with years ago:

Fuel pump recall, part two.

Those of us with hexhead bikes remember the “fuel flange “recall from a few years back. The original problem was the composite flange at the quick disconnect coming out of the fuel pump assembly was flexing due to pressurization and depressurization of the system and developing cracks around the bas...

R1200 RT SE Left Switch Pack

Tank removal is straight forward. As long as you remember to have it nearly empty to keep the weight down. A plus point is that all the connections, Fuel and Electrics are very easily accessible on the top of the tank. My previous bike, a Triumph Sprint was a nightmare with Fuel and Electrics well ...

R 1200 rt headlights

I installed the Cyclops LED lamps kit (all 3 lamps) to my 2009 R1200RT...pulling the entire headlight assembly made it much easier to fit the lamps; placing the headlight assembly upside down on a piece of carpeting insures easy access and enables proper alignment of the lamps on the first try witho...

Re: Trickle charging

The only problem I ever had with a trickle charger (the BMW one) was that I had an ELCB (circuit breaker) fitted to the mains plug socket. Sure enough the mains went down, as they do from time to time, the ELCB tripped and when the power came back on my trickle charger no longer worked in fact the ...

Re: Resetting Service indicator

If you have an Android mobile device you might want to look into the MotoScan app...that, coupled with the right Bluetooth OBD2 reader and an adapter cable is a fraction of the cost of a GS-911. MotoScan can reset service reminders and do many of the functions of a GS-911. BT OBD Scanner: OBDLink LX...

Trickle charging

Ok...I’ll weigh in on this one... The OP acquired a 2013 RT...likely the battery is an AGM-type. My advice is just put a (comes fused) Battery Tender pigtail on the bike; 10-minute job and (if you don’t have one) the pigtail costs $11.99 USD at Walmart, or $7.95 USD Amazon Prime. https://uploads.tap...

Fuel strip options

If your fuel strip is currently wonky and still covered by the 12-year warranty that would be the dealers’ double-jointed 5-year-old :)

Plastic nose removal

If memory serves there is a screw in the 12 o’clock position that holds the top of the cover on, and two ‘push pin fittings’ on the bottom of the cover (the plastic pins must be pulled out completely ...not just backed out as shown in the bottom photo) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200620/37351...

Re: Fuel strip options

Jack: I researched this as well after resurrecting my nephew’s 06 RT. Yes, the float conversion using the components from the guy in the Netherlands (videos/website mention by other members above) is very achievable, and will likely be quite maintainable long past the crapshoot some have had with fu...

Re: Impersonating a police officer

It doesn’t have to be a white motorcycle... here in the United States not all police motorcycles are white. They don’t have the high-viz paint schemes like they do in some European countries, they’re typically black, or white. Some blues mixed in there as well. When I ride my big red Harley folks ta...
