Re: High beam bulb orientation -2012
To be honest, neither the up or down orientation results in a very impressive high beam pattern. Plus, I've readjusted the light housing correctly which gives me perfect low beam illumination. I guess the high beam just isn't that great. On a side note: I do notice the hi-beam bulb doesn't...

High beam bulb orientation -2012
i think the Haynes Manual is in error here? Haynes says to orient high beam bulb tab DOWN. 2012 R1200RT In that position it lights up only treetops on back roads. I turned the bulb tab to the UP position (I read this online someplace?) and now I have a bright focused beam on the roadway. A...

Oil seeps from valve cover bolt
I have 2012 R1200RT. I have slight oil seeping from the valve cover bolt bushing area. Not a major leak at all, only about a single drop after parking over night. Only seems to be coming from the front bolt, not the rear. I always use the center stand at home. Should I bother replacing the bolt bush...

Re: Trouble finding neutral
Good idea. I see on the parts diagrams there are a few linkages involved between the foot lever and gear box itself.
I'll check those out. Possibly clean and lightly lubricate those parts.

Trouble finding neutral
Anyone ever have trouble finding neutral when stopped? It occasionally happens to me, when trying to drop from 2- N while stopped it goes right in to first gear. Then when I try to go up to N, I get 2nd. after that, it only goes, 2-1-2-1. Sometimes the gear indicator even goes blank? Not sure what t...

Transmission and Final Drive capacities?
Anyone know the respective capacities of the transmission and final drive for a 2012 R1200RT? Or specifically, the recommended amounts to add during a fluid change. The owners manual doesn't even list a total capacity for either and I'll be doing my own fluid changes in the future. It seems they bot...

Two different Oil Filter styles?
Did my own oil/filter change on my 2012 R1200RT. (Which I recently purchased) The filter wrench I borrowed was for a filter with a series of 'flats'. (I assumed this was correct) The new BMW filter I got had more a series of grooves on the base. ??? Nevertheless, I was able to tighten new ...

Re: 2012 R1200RT Rear Sidecase slightly loose
Right, I'm pretty sure you have the same bag step up.
Good to hear, I'll be clocking about a 1,000 round trip next week by my self. Using side cases and a waterproof duffel.
I do think the side cases will stay secure.

2012 R1200RT Rear Sidecase slightly loose
I'm the third owner of my 2012 RT, only 20,000 miles. Seems very well kept condition. No crashes, etc. I do notice the right side bag is a bit looser on the mountings than the other side. The left side is more solid. Not a vast difference, but noticeable if I pull on them. I checked the mounts on th...

This forum is very clean and functions well. I've only been on a couple months and reaped much information form the amiable members. Sadly, these things don't run themselves, somebody has to man the controls and do the work while upholding the ideals set forth. Hopefully a worthy and knowledgeable ...

Re: Dash Lighting
on my 2007 RT I can adjust the dash lighting level with the buttons on the dash That's correct, I do have several brightness setting options, but I think what the issue here is that during bright daylight there is no illumination activated on the center screen, so it is very tough to read when it's...
