Very strange, my box is from 2014. Just tried it again and works as described

Casbar, if you lock your case using the central-locking button instead of the key, does the key slot remain in the upright (open) position?

Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks

Ok, so why does my lock work then, when not on the bike, I can lock and unlock the case whilst its sat on the floor. I have the delux case with high level brake light and central locking. So the lock does work with the key! What year was your top box manufactured Casbar?  I can't explain t...

Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks

An update for all of you who responded.  The problem with the lock has been resolved, and I must admit it was not the dealer, it was the top case.  The newest "deluxe" BMW top case (when designed for central locking), does not need or allow the key to turn.  Ther...

Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks

Mine has central locking and the latest OEM topcase. The cylindrical shaped plug has a mate under the passenger seat near and under the rack, it is a push and twist fit. On mine it supplies power for central locking, additional high level brake light and interior light, which, unlike the 1600, is a...

Re: BMW topcase wiring/locks

Thanks for the tips gents, I wondered about the lock and questioned the dealer a couple times.  He was certain that if the key slides in all the way, the key is coded correctly.  Honestly, I could live without the brake light, but if I cannot lock the case, it's no good. I think I ...

BMW topcase wiring/locks

I just received the deluxe BMW topcase and extra brake light from KFM in Germany (part# 77 43 8 544 631 and 77 51 8 520 044).  I have a couple issues with it, one is the wiring harness and the other is the locking mechanism.  The case came with a large round plug, and there is noth...

Re: 2016 R1200RT LC clutch master cylinder recall

I spoke to my dealer here in Portland today.  The recall is for real, but seems to be affecting mostly bikes that were manufactured in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2015.  My bike was manufactured in March of 2016 and is not affected by the recall.

Re: Newbies on Board

Hey Sam - I just bought a 2016 RT and live in Sherwood, OR.  There's a great group on FB you should join if you haven't already, BMWRO (BMW riders Oregon), lots of great folks on there with route tips, etc.

Re: Removing rubber from foot pegs

OK had another look at mine. Using a flat blade screwdriver I gentle lifted the rubber at the top and with a torch could see that the rubber is held in place either side at the shoulder of the foot rest. You would need to lift this part of the rubber footrest out of the shoulder either side before ...

Removing rubber from foot pegs

Has anyone attempted to remove the rubber grips on the foot pegs, and if so can you tell me how to do it? I have tried pulling, twisting, and every other thing I could think of, and they just won't pop off. I bought some new riding boots that are *extremely" grippy on the soles.  The s...

Re: Bluetooth audio sounds awful

Correct it does not. As for the bike speakers. I know nobody who would consider using them on the road above about 30mpg with the screen all the way up. But the audio unit itself properly connected to your helmet is a quality bit of kit.  A usb stick loaded with MP3 music works a treat wit...

Re: Bluetooth audio sounds awful

Understood.  How do you intend to connect to the GPS for prompts? I typically don't use the audio features with the Nav, just as visual guidance.  But I could still connect it to the other BT channel on my Scala Rider if I need to, I don't think it relies on the radio, correct?

Re: Bluetooth audio sounds awful

Got to ask. If you have no intention of using any part of the audio system why spend a small fortune buying it in the first place.  Maybe it was a free gift from your friendly salesman. Hey RTMan10 - I fully intended to use the radio, and even activated a year's worth of the SiriusXM radio...

Re: Bluetooth audio sounds awful

I say forget all that nonsense, I'm going to listen to my iPhone with earbuds at a cost of $0.  It fits neatly into my front pocket.  Well, cost is $0 since I already owned the iPhone. What I'm curious about, does *anyone* actually ride down the street with the radio blaring throug...
