Interesting, the date on the oil I bought from OPIE is 05/06/2014 & manufactured in the EU.

Shell oil (packaged BMW) has recently arrived at my dealer, Pidcocks. Only saw 5-40 and 15-50 on the shelf.  Same price as the Castrol stuff.

Same at Chandlers in Brighton. As yet no Shell branded 5W40 just BMW branded made by Shell. Asked how much ? £16/litre. I'm sticking to Castrol Power 1 4T 5W40. Just ordered 12 litres from Germany cost including delivery works out at £7.15 / litre. Just used my last batch. Completed my 12K service today.

Same price up here.  Don't think you will ever see Shell branded bottles in dealers.

Shell do produce Advance 4T Ultra Scooter,

Following further research, please be aware that although this Shell Oil is 5W-40 grade, it is not suitable for wet clutch use & therefore should not be used in LC RT's.

Looks like with the 5W-40 for LC RT's, it's another case of, (quote taken from Motorcycle Info Pages).

http://www.motorcycleinfo.co.uk/index19 ... eId=753225

"If you're a cynic like myself you'll wonder whether BMW's recommended engine oil for the R1200GS (BMW motorcycles) is actually the best engine oil you can choose or is their recommendation based on a financial 'partnership' they have with Castrol?!....I'll say no more! :-)"

For Castrol, now replace with Shell.

In the US, folks seem to use Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 in motorcycles, does anyone use it in an LC RT.
