Small tank bag

Post by JonGray »

Hi All, newbie here, both to the forum and to BMW's.  Always been a Honda sports bike man but had to admit a racing crouch is not conducive to good posture at 58yrs of age, so the 2004 Fireblade has been replaced by a gorgeous 2011 R1200RT. It came with full BMW luggage, but I'm looking for a small tank bag. It should be waterproof and have a clear top pocket to use my iPhone as a SatNav, and big enough just to carry, passports, wallet, ferry tickets, etc. I don't want to spend huge amounts of money on it, does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi JonGray, welcome ,  enjoy the new `toy' and this Forum.    Keep an eye on `FleaBay',  there have been a few genuine 1200rt `mint'  tank bags on there recently and at a fraction of the initial cost.....  ;)

Hi Jon.

Try the SW Motech range with tank-ring fittings.  Some good options in there...

All sorted. Won an eBay auction for a genuine BMW bag in excellent condition for £75. Does the job perfectly.

Recently picked one up for about the same price +/- £10, seems to be the going rate.

I have one of these - not cheap and you need the tank rig but works and looks great
