Helmet to bike and(?) GPS

Post by Oscar Nelsen »

I need to link my Bluetooth helmet to the audio system, but I also have a Navigator V. Do I just link my helmet to the bike or do I have to link to the GPS also?

Thank You.  I'm a Bluetooth virgin, but I am certain it's not rocket science.

Oscar,
Your not alone
First pair helmet with bikes audio

Finally if you wish pair GPS with phone,

First let me say that after tasting other RT related forums, this is the best.
OK. Please correct/confirm the following:
Phones, GPS, etc. are nowhere in the vicinity.
Mine is paired to Audio as Helmet 1
Wife's as Helmet 2
My helmet gets paired to Navigator V not necessarily with it mounted to the bike
Pairing the helmets to each other is not required as they are paired via the bike's Audio.

Just in case your dealer has not told you.  The audio system will only fully connect with the BMW headsets.  On all other makes it will only connect with one helmet  Obviously doesn't matter if you ride solo.

One can only guess on how many hours of troubleshooting that little tidbit has saved.  Maybe even a curse or three.

How to connect 2 Schuberth SRC helmets to RT, Nav V and phone

Post by Oscar Nelsen »

‘Chris on the Street’ has a collection of YouTube videos that are quite informative. The Bluetooth one, suggested above by trickstecop, gives an very thorough overview and is a great primer.

For the nuts and bolts of how to actually accomplish his setup I found these 2, which are both under 3 minutes (great for my ADD). One is by Schuberth and the other, by Richard Battles, is what I would rate a perfect 10. The audio is a music track, but the instructions could not be clearer or more precise.

I did try to pair Helmet 2 to my wife’s SRC and got a Not Allowed message.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread and I hope this may help others who are as in the dark as I used to be.

One aspect of the SRC that I painfully became aware of is when you download new software you must then run the Reset Pairing procedure. Without doing so, I lost the bike's radio even though the SRC was still paired and successfully(?) re-paired to the bike. Although I figured it needed to be done, I did not know the procedure is not the same as in the online manual or Schuberth's video. In the old manual the steps are easy to find in its own section; in the current manual, its somewhat hidden in Troubleshooting.

The indication that a reset is necessary is the dot & Bluetooth symbol will flash instead of constantly displayed.
