2015 rear pads

6300 miles and the rear pads are nearly down to the metal. The old had a metal backing plate and a shim on the inner pad but the aftermarket replacement had none supplied. Do I use the old ones or none at all. Anyone any recommendations

Take them back and fit the same ones again.  If you can get through the original Brembo ones in 6K a set of aftermarket ones though undoubtably less expensive won't get you off your drive.  And you won't believe the replacement price of the disc.

Just bought a set from my local BMW dealer, they cost me circa £70, I said I only want the pads - lol, mine are nearly done at 6k as well.

Mine are half gone a 8 1/2k.  Must admit though I hardly ever use the rear brake in isolation.

Think the guy said mine were 60% worn, but I have only put on 3k to the bike, only had it 6 months, so not sure what the previous owner did with brakes. Don't use the rear much.

If there is still 40% left will you not wait a while before putting the new ones in. They have always been known for fast wear if you continually work the back brake by itself. GS owners can get as little as 1500 miles out of them. As we have all paid a premium for computer controlled semi linked brakes might as well make use of the system and forget the brake pedal. if you have Hill start it's as good as redundant anyway. Ya and I know all about feathering the back when doing u turns.

Yes going to wait a while. Really only use the back brake for coming to an actual stop after using the front brake and for slow riding. Just noticed a slightly different feel to the back brake a few weeks back.

With my reactions I would probably flip onto my right BMW Cylinder protector every time I stopped.
