Yorks/Lincs owners meet up

Post by David. »

A meet up of Yorks/Lincs owners has been suggested & some interest expressed.

Who would like to meet up, when & where?

I'm interested, before the end of October & somewhere around York.

Heading into West or South Yorkshire might attract some cross border activity.

Squires Café is mid Yorkshire. Weekend is probably best for most?  Open to anybody on this forum to attend.  Make it say 1pm for roads to have aired and people travelling?  Any other ideas, dates time, venue etc before the weather sets in for winter??? Lets see how many members we can get to meet up :)

Squires Café is fairly central & accessible from all directions. However, IMO, it's not the most attractive venue & we may get lost in the crowds.

Being ReTired, midweek is an option.

Based on travelling time from Ingleby Barwick (home) or Winterton (scunny1),  Allan Jefferies BMW at Shipley is less than 1.5 hours away.
(AJ's might attract folks from the red rose side of the country.)

Rainbow BMW Rotherham might be an alternative for anyone further South.

York is a mid point between Ingleby Barwick & Winterton, plenty of places to meet up.

Personally I'm happy for anywhere but Squire's, either side of the Humber and with me working shifts, the weekend after next matches in perfectly.

With Cleverbee being in Beverley, unless there is any other interest, perhaps York would be ok.

Weather permitting, the last weekend in October 29th/30th would be good.

(BST ends on Sunday 30th, it'll be darker 1 hour earlier.)

So weekend 29th/30th seems favourable?  Where round York to meet up? ( personally only know York coming in from Fulford side and I can get lost in most places!) What time???

If the weather is good, how about Saturday 29th, (gives the option of Sunday 30th).

May I suggest meeting at The Farm Shop & Café, Willow House Caravan Park, Wigginton, YO32 2RH, http://www.thefarmshopyork.co.uk/
Just outside the York ring road (A1237),  take the B1363 Helmsley road & it's on the RHS.

Is 11:00 ok, could be later if folks are travelling from further afield.
Leaves time if anyone would like a ride out anywhere.

Any other suggestions are most welcome.

My bike is clean & I would like it to remain that way, therefore, a dry day & roads would be good.

Oh dear, my motorcycle has OCD  ( Occasional cleaning disorder ). I guess I will win grungiest bike category at any meet up.  I would rather be riding than cleaning. Why does it take half hour to clean my Jaguar and half a day to clean my bike??? :))

If we do end up meeting at York on Saturday 29th October for 11:00, would this cross-country (black line) route to Allan Jefferies BMW in Shipley be of interest as a ride out.

I'm hoping to make it weather permitting, even if I made it to AJ's for a brew, about 160mile round trip from the Red Rose side.
