Replacement Batteries

Got any questions about the BMW's R1200RT/R1250RT's onboard audio, Bluetooth or the Electrical system?

Ha, that is the point, if its not made specifically by BMW and is something that is re-badged, then why waste money on the badge. Do you think the rest of the bike fraternity slavishly buy branded bits from manufacturers, the answer is probably only a minority. Think a lot of people who buy the BMW brand are probably cash rich and time poor, so its easier to just go to a dealer. Bit like Harley owners, its all about the brand.

For me it's more about looking after my investment and not hoping the alternative bit is OK.  And there is always the double length warranty you get and knowing that warranty is a no quibble one. But each to his own.

There's certainly plenty of choice.

BMW OEM (Exide) @ £136
Exide (europarts) @ £94
Exide (Motorworks) @ £69
Yuasa AGM (MDS) @ £50

If anybody thinks they can get an identical quality item costing £136 for £50 I would say think again.

The Yuasa battery is of the AGM type, all the other 3 batteries are made by Exide & are therefore the same GEL type.

"BMW stick their own label on it & charged twice the price."

If people believe BMW charge twice the price for their products why buy anything from them.

Because a big company big bills, people who will pay so set the price. Example, a set of rear pads from BMW £80, Brembo replacement pads from someone like Sherlock or autowerks in the region of £45 to £50, so are the BMW pads for brembo different or better. Same story for discs, we were quoted to fit for our blood bike £600, actually got decent discs for £200, so what is different with BMW supplied discs, not much I would say.
