Well that means then that my dealer installed the wrong filter.
Another reason NOT to use them anymore.

That's a new one on me, it hasn't got BMW (Shell) stamped on it, but at least it's made in Germany. (Didn't know that Germany had any oil fields.)

Ring another dealer and ask them what oil they use.  Then get really mad with the one that put that in your sump.  Looks like the correct grade though, but no idea what quality

Sounds like Alfred is doing his own oil & filter change, not a BMW dealer.

Correct
The dealer put shit oil and wrong filter on it. I am sick of paying for rubbish.
Liqui Moly is top of the line oil, but also comes attached with a matching price tag. Over here in Australia getting 5W-40 oil that is also MA2 is next to impossible to get. Fortunately I located an Internet Whole Seller who imports the oil.

As is says on the tin, the Liqui Moly is synthetic, API SM & JASO MA-2.

The BMW (Shell) Advantec stuff is systhetic, API SN & JASO MA-2.

The BMW spec. is API SL & JASO MA-2, therefore, both the above oils meet & exceed the requirements.

My Rider's manual says :
"Additives (eg molybdenum-based) are not permissible because they can attack coated components of the engine..."
Does this mean we should worry about using an oil called "Liqui Moly" ?
