Good idea, no cutting off of the plug, could be made good again with a little insulation tape.

Scotchlok connectors do a similar job, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFdVkSaHRpU used them for installing tow bar electrics on a car.

I believe you want the "male" portion of the plug, your dealer should be able to supply that
I soldered the spade connectors to the wire pigtail and attached to horn

For £8.56, this "sounds" like the best solution.

I know the BMW ones are expensive but the scotchlok connectors are not reliable with fine wire and once buried in the fairing are a real pain if they fail owing to wet or strain. I used the bare wires strengthened by a bit of solder then poked into the BMW female side and taped up on a previous GS, it works but it's a bodge, you won't be happy . You just can't fill the bike with crappy bodged up fitments.

thanks all

i have ordered this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322351308828?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649

and some of those posi-tap things, if that doesn't work.

if all else fails i will just botch it with paperclips, twisted bits of wire and gaffer tape, which is my usual method for these things. its only a horn, and i can never find the horn switch quick enough anyway, as it is located in such a stupid position on the handlebars!

It's probably too late now, but I think BMW sell them for £3.99 each. It's the last part number in the photograph.
