'07 RT

Post by speighty »

Hi guys and gals,

Been lurking around since i got the RT, and this place has been a wonderful resource of information.

One thing i havent been able to get my head around is what tankbag options there are for this particular year??

I'm quite taken with the idea of a sw-motech or Givi bag with a locking ring attachment, being as a few friends have them on various bikes and they work really well.
But the sites dont seem to have one thats specific to the '07.

Does anyone have actual details of which rings/bags so fit?

Alternatively any other suggestions without the ring would be great.

I have several bagsters, but I'm not sure I want a tank cover on this bike.

Thanks for any info.

As your bike already has the bag attachment on it why not get the OEM one.  It's a good size and waterproof.  There must be lots out there pre owned and the one model fits all bikes 2005 to 2013.

I have a Bagster on mine.
In fact it's the same two tier bag that I've had for nearly 20yrs now and it's still going strong so to my mind it speaks volumes about the quality of their bags.
I attach it to my 2007 RT by using their universal bag mount, which I have attached so that it's mostly concealed by the factory fit BMW mount, this way it doesnt move around too much or look obtrusive on the bike.
If you like I'll take a couple of pictures when I get the bike back from Vines tomorrow ?

Appologies for the poor quality photo's but I had to take them in the garage after getting soaked on the run home from Guildford this afternoon.
Pictures are not great but it gives you an idea at least.

I have an SW-Motech bag on another bike, and I would also like to get the ring for the RT to avoid getting another bag. Has anyone mounted a Motech tankbag ?

I found the guys at BykeBytz helpful and knowledgeable - they have a full range of SW-Motech tank-bags in stock. They would not sell me anything that was unsuitable for my machine.

Hope this helps.

The OEM one on EBay last week went for £82.  Must be more out there.  Far better value than an aftermarket fudge.

I've got the OEM one and it is a good tank bag (if a little large), Givi offer a good range of bags with their Tanklock system which would possibly be more suitable to your needs? Plus you'll get a 'new' one without spending much more than the cost of a 'used' OEM.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)
