Correct oil for rear hub and gearbox

hi, can anyone tell me how much oil goes into rear hub and grade? Also for gearbox and oil grade its for my 05 r1200rt thanks.

You will need 180ml of synthetic 75w90 gear oil.  Here's a link with some photos that show the steps, not the best instructions, but better than nothing if you haven't done it before.  https://www.jimvonbaden.com/R1200_Final_Drive.html


Change the URL from https to http and it should work fine.

Recently BMW changed the requirements so that the same oil is used in the Final Drive and Gearbox. Castrol Syntrax  75w-90 formally known as Castrol SAF-XO . As Tim says the correct amount for the Final Drive is now 180cc, reduced from the original 220cc in a bid to cure seal failures. When draining the Gearbox be sure to remove the Fill / Level plug before the Drain Plug. (In case the level plug is seized in situ. And you are stuck with a dry Gearbox).
Replenish to the lower edge of the fill / level hole.

Have you ever used Royal Purple 75w90?  Just wondering if Syntrax has something special to it.
