What year bike?

Are you talking about the earlier bike that has a separate switch on each end of the bars for the appropriate indicator?

Don't want to spoil your day but that could be a complete left hand switch assembly replacement.

if you mean auto switch off, no.  That only happens above a certain speed.  But flick the switch either way to set them and then one press in with the switch in the central position should cancel them either moving or at a stand still.

Still not quite sure which RT model you have. Benchmark's question about the switch location is pertinent as a complete change of design took place with the introduction of the Twincam RT.

He says it's a 2011 so not the old 3 switch system.  That was last used in 2009 more's the pity.  It never went wrong.

Quoting a model by "year" only can be confusing. That's probably why Benchmark asked the question regarding switch type. For example, you could have a "2013" (date of 1st registration) bike that was built in 2011. If there where any changes incorporated between those dates confusion can arise. So it's always best to give as much info as possible, such as "it's a 2011 Twincam". Another example would be the two RT's registered in the same year with different Front Forks and so on and so forth. However, fully agree with your comments about the "old" twin paddle switch arrangement. I've had four bikes with then and never had a problem. Still that's progress (BMW style) I suppose.
