Avon Storm 2 Ultra

Post by k9doc »

Anyone have any experience with these tyres?

I've had several sets of Avons (Azarro,ST etc ) over the years and always been highly delighted.

I notice that they don't figure in the Poll so obviously not too popular, but on previous experience I would have another set.

Hi, I had several pairs of these fitted to a Honda Blackbird, I found them excellent in all aspects, approximately 10,000 miles from a rear 18,000 for a front running them down to 1mm, grip wet or dry was very good. I used to run Bridgestone battlax 020 and found the Avons much better for mileage grip and confidence I will certainly consider them when I come to replace the tyres on my RT.

Not dissimilar to the Dunlops. Could be first cousins.

Avon Storm 2 Ultra have been discontinued (dare say I could find a pair if I tried hard enough) and Storm 3D X-M don't seem to appeal. The intended target bikes seem to be Hyabusa, GTR1400 etc and to my mind OTT for the RT.

Have decided to go with the Dunlop Roadsmart 3 (despite being on the approved list). A Dunlop virgin so here's hoping they're as good as some of the reviews suggest.

The Dunlop Roadsmart 1 was new to me too, haven't regretted the decision & have no reason to change.

Not a Dunlop virgin having used TT100 & Gold Seals in the good old days.

Had 2 sets of the Road Smart 3 on my 14 RT & just had a set on my '16.
Excellent tyre, quick drop in to corners due to a steep tyre profile. Good grip in wet & dry, with good mileage too.
Very happy  :)
Vini, Vidi, Velcro....... I came, I saw, I stuck around.
