Tomtom Rider

Post by shoei »

I currently have the Navigator 5 fitted to my 2015 RT. Can the Tomtom Rider be fitted in the same position? Are the screws in the same position to mount the Tomtom bracket? Hopefully someone has successfully done it............ Thank you

Hi

Yes and no.  Yes tomtom can be fitted  but no the mount holes will not work.

I have done this.  Mainly because i have always used Tomtoms and I didn't want to change

I removed the gamin  mount  unplugged the cable too.  I then fashioned a hinged mount from a stainless steel hasp ( DIY shop Hasp and staple)    Placing the hinge at the bottom  fixed this in place of the Garmin mount  (I had to drill some extra holes but they will be covered when I sell the bike by the Garmin mount which I will put back in place)  Attached the  Tomtom mount to the other half  I had drilled the hast to accept this first.  I am using neodymium  magnet to hold the hing closed  then used some carbon effect plastic to surround the  bracket.  A few pictures taken when I had done it  you will also see the fuse box I fitted in behind the right speaker panel ( I have tidied this up since)

I can get some more pictures if you like.

It was pretty easy  once I had the idea.  Did look first with the hinge to the side  but this did not provide enough swing to allow the nav head to be removed.

Ive done almost 4k since fitting it  remove the nav head every day  no issues so far
