no tire pressure reading

Post by pencile »

Just changed my rear tire one 2014 1200rt and I went to check the tire pressure on the display and its not showing either the front or the rear psi.  I was careful not to smash or pry on the sensor.  I did change the screw in valve on the mag spoke ( the inside valve was not screwing in correctly for some reason). Any reason both tires would not be reporting?  Never touched the front tire.

I suppose you know that the bike must have a minimum speed before the sensor starts to transmit the pressure to the display for the first time

yes, I took a short 3 mile ride, still dashes for pressure.  Its a nice problem, looks like maybe a trip to the dealer.  If one tire was reporting in I could be pretty sure what the problem was, but neither one here.  I think  maybe a failure to communicate with the mother ship.  Not sure when the problem started, I usually keep it on distance remaining and only check tire pressure every now and then.

I have a 2015 1200RT and occasionally see the problem, but it always corrects itself.  It seems to happen when the bike has been sitting for more than a week.  Normally the tire pressure displays within a couple of blocks.

For some reason my rear tyre reading can take up to 7 or 8 miles before it  displays. The front reading shows within a few 100 yards or so.

This usually happens only on the 1st ride of the day. Any subsequent rides during the day it comes up more or less at the same time as the front.

I'm not to fussed about it to be honest - the readings are, at best, a rough indication and if there was any serious lack of air then I'd like to think that I'd notice it either before I got on the bike or at least within a few yards of riding!
