2017 OBD-II Port

I totally get the logic behind it (especially as someone with a previous datacomms background). When I do the OBD-II interrogation on my 2006 BMW 530D it finds 45 out of a possible total of over 60 separate control units (I'm sure that includes sub-control units). Trying to wire all of that together on a 'point-to-point' basis would be pretty crazy.
